I hate to dampen the enthusiasm left by fellow travellers for this establishment, but I think it’s worth mentioning a couple of gripes. |My main problem is the bed and the chaotic breakfast. A lovely room with great view, spotlessly clean, fantastic bathroom with decent shower. It’s all spoilt by the most horrendously hard mattress which frankly spoilt the stay. It was so uncomfortable that neither of us barely slept for the 3 nights that we stayed here. For 3 days I suffered with a bad back and stiff neck, and I’m someone who usually never suffers with this. I had to take ibuprofen to relieve the pain. It helped using the spare duvet as a mattress topper, but this was hell. Of course I mentioned it to reception and there was the usual smiles and language barrier, but I knew I’d have to just live with it. ||So following on from a bad nights sleep, tired and grouchy, to then face breakfast. There’s a tradition of sitting at very small tables and chairs in this country. I can’t tell you how joyous that is with a bad back. So we sat patiently waiting for the omelette to arrive, mine was fine, the other one was stone cold. Not sure why they couldn’t cook one, serve it, and cook the second. Coffee took forever as did the OJ which was freshly squeezed and mixed with boiling water. Tasted vile. ||I’d suggest instead of the receptionist trying to do everything, that they lay out a small buffet. Guests can make their own tea and coffee, help themselves to juice, bread, some boiled eggs and cold meat possibly? Or something similar but simpler. For those who want noodles, I’m sure an arrangement could be made. |Final moan. Why leave a bottle of red wine in the room, looking like it’s complimentary (as in other similar establishments) and then charge for it? A bit...
Read moreThe Orchid Villa makes a wonderful base from which to explore Dalat and the surrounding area. My husband and I spent a wonderful 5 days here recently and we can't wait to return.||We had a king room with mountain view. The room was spacious and very clean, with a comfortable bed, fridge, tea and coffee maker and plenty of storage. The whole hotel has lovely views and we saw a different sunset every evening from the king room.|The breakfast had to be chosen the night before from a Vietnamese or Western menu and was delicious and plentiful. The hotel also served lunch and dinner from a small menu -- very welcome after a long day out. We are in a couple of days and found the food delicious. ||The Orchid Villa is in a quiet residential neighbourhood away from the bustle of Dalat. Taxis are plentiful and cheap and it's a 5 or 10 minutes ride into town. Thete are some cafes and a restaurant within walking distance if you don't mind climbing a hill! There is also a basic grocery store close by.||The Orchid Villas is fortunate in having outstanding staff. They are eager to help and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible and their friendly smiling faces are very welcoming every time you return.||We recommend this hotel...
Read moreWe booked the villa for 8 persons via booking.com and it was stated in the website that there are 4 bedrooms in the villa. However when we arrived we discovered that two bedrooms located on the upper floor are connecting and to go to the first bedroom you have to enter via the second bedroom. As we are 4 couples this is very inconvenient and ended up we have to booked another room at the Hotel next door. The beds at the villa are very hard. Is like sleeping on planks. The fridge was spoilt and had a bad smell when you opened it. The oven was also not working. Smoke came out of it when we tried to use it. The view was nice and...
