I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights before my trip to Sapa and for another night on my return. On both occasions I was allocated the exact deluxe double room on the same floor.||||Hotel:||This small and clean hotel is located in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter within a 2-3 minute walk to popular Ta Hien street (beer street).||||As I arrived I was greeted warmly by the very friendly door boy and receptionist and was offered a plate of fresh fruits and juice while they were taking care of the registration. All staff were very friendly throughout my stay, housekeeping was always on point and the general areas of the hotel spotless.||||I did not use the hotel wi-fi because I purchased a tourist sim card at the airport. And neither was I able to try out their complimentary breakfast. So I unable to comment on these services.||||Location:||The airport express bus 86 as well as the big sleeper bus from Sapa stopped within a 5 minute walk to the hotel which is very convenient. The hotel is located on the eastern edge of Old Quarter so if you are arriving from the airport, inform the 'express bus 86' conductor that you would like to get off at the '142 Duong Tran Quang Khai' stop. You will save heaps compared to catching a cab from the airport.||||With this being my 2nd trip to Hanoi and having previously stayed in multiple other hotels in the same area (Old Quarter), I had a fair idea of the location prior to booking. What can I say, the hotel sure was in the heart of it all with coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clubs, travel agents, laundry services, a pharmacy, etc right below and all around the hotel. A popular Vietnamese BBQ restaurant 'Bo Nuong Xuan Xuan' is almost across the street from the hotel which I highly recommend.||||Most must see places are within walking distance from the hotel including the lake, popular egg coffee shops, train street and of course Ta Hien beer street. And I found the surroundings to be very safe.||||Room:||A deluxe double room on a higher floor was assigned as requested which was exactly as pictured with just the right amount of space, modern and very clean. There was a mini bar, complimentary water, a safe, study desk and two small windows which unfortunately did not have much of a view.||||The bed was large and very comfortable and the flat screen TV had plenty of English channels including multiple music channels. The air con worked very well and kept the room nice and cold. ||||Bathroom:||I am very particular about bathrooms when booking hotels, and more often than not, I would rather have a nicer bathroom over a nicer bedroom. In this instance however I have nothing to complain about since the bathroom was equally as good as the bedroom.||||It was very clean, of a decent size, with a modern toilet, spacious vanity, and a large walk in shower with a rain shower head. No issues with water pressure and hot water. The shower cubicle had a see through window into the bedroom which can be closed by blinds (by the person taking the shower). Basic bathroom amenities were provided including shower gel and shampoo.||||The not so good:||Well... I knew what I was in for prior to booking the room with regards to the noise situation from surrounding clubs so I specifically requested for a room on a high floor at the back of the hotel. ||||I am usually a night owl and usually head back to my room only after clubs close however during this trip I somehow found myself going to bed by midnight. On my first night I had a very difficult time falling asleep, it was not so much the noise but the constant bass I could hear which kept me awake until the wee hours of the morning, which is the only reason I am giving the hotel a 4/5.||||On my other two nights however, it did not bother me as much and I was able to get decent shut eye. Maybe it was something I needed to get used to or maybe I was just way too tired. Either way I knew about the sound issue prior to booking so I should have planned better by bringing ear plugs with me. Considering I am not the only guest to raise this issue, it might be a good idea for the hotel to provide complimentary ear plugs or have them available for purchase by placing a small note in all rooms to inform guests of its availability.||||Conclusion:||The noise/bass may or may not be an issue for all. It did however bother me a little mainly on my first night, so the next time I will either bring ear plugs or party until the clubs close.||||Would I return to this hotel and recommend it to friends and fellow travellers? Yes, I definitely would! I could not find any fault with the room, staff were all excellent and the price offered for it's location is extremely...
Read moreTHE NAME OF THE HOTEL IS WRONG! Address is wrong too!
The name of the hotel is SAIGON SUN APARTMENT.
First of all, the address in Agoda, Booking and Google map was different. Every app was showing different direction of this hotel under the name O Le Grand Hotel - the sun.
I was looking for this hotel at 23:00 and I couldn’t find it and was wandering around. I messaged them beforehand and nobody replied to my message.
Google review shows the reviews that are “the most useful”. In theory the ones that have positive review from 6 years ago.
But if you put filter to the newest reviews, they are all telling the truth. Thanks to the latest reviews from a girl mentioning the real name of the hotel! Otherwise I would be homeless.
I lectured them and told them why the hell it has a different name and address. They were just apologising and said the changed the name. Nothing much they could say in English.
Then they said they gave me a superior room instead of the standard that I booked.
Even the superior room wasn’t good. The window in the bathroom couldn’t be closed! There is mold, hair I found on the bed, dust.
Very loud street and loud cleaners. I woke up because of the noise.
I will attach pictures of the actual place, where it is located and how...

Booked big room with balcony through agoda. Arrived arouns 12pm. Reception doesn't speak or pretends to not speak any English. There was supposed to be a welcome drink served and breakfast included but the reception didn't know anything about those.
They checked me in in a tiny windowless room so I went back and asked to move me to the room I booked. After some arguing they phoned someone that could speak English and the lady said it was a mistake and they will check me in in the room i had booked in 5 minutes. She said there's instant noodles which they count as breakfast....
I was waiting for around 1 hr and started reading reviews. When I discovered others had been scammed before i decided to ask for a refund and go somewhere else. They gave me money back immediately which tells me this happens often as hotels usually don't do refunds easy like that.
Turns out positive comments are pre covid and/or from...
