WARNING entertainment hotel which is absolute rubbish for tourists
Writing my first hotel review ever as I am honestly so disappointed by my experience as a tourist looking for a relaxing stay at Fortuna. Perhaps the locals all know the true nature of the hotel already, so I am just warning tourists.
Notable points to mention:
There is barely any AC in the lobby, hallways, and gym.
It is a very old building with carpeted floors throughout so beware if you have dust mite allergies. Gym facility is also incredibly old, no where close to the images.
Instructions everywhere are conflicting. Guest book clearly states that in room dining is 24 hours but it actually closes when the restaurants close. Gym and pool close times are also earlier than stated. The sign next to the water jug says to go downstairs to refill your water but then reception will tell you to go back upstairs.
All staff don’t speak English (except for one receptionist) and they are really unhelpful unlike the general hospitality I have experienced in Vietnam. My first night I was ill and hungry when I found out room service was not actually 24/7 so I ordered grab food but reception wouldn’t even give me utensils to eat my takeaway food with.
Spa/massage service is incredibly shady (if that’s what you’re into). I was denied the jacuzzi as it was “for men only” which made me a bit confused but I thought I might’ve misunderstood so I just chose a basic foot massage. I had to pay upfront and was then led into a dark and empty KTV style room and a young female masseuse who was in a revealing school girl outfit. Friendly service but was clearly not putting in effort, couldn’t apply any pressure properly, and went for less than the stated time (not complaining because I wanted to get out of there). Quite pathetic for a hotel spa service I expected to be premium.
I saw similarly dressed spa girls (revealing school girl outfits) going through the hallways and entering guest rooms… did not feel comfortable to be staying so close by.
Overall, the location is fine and the rooms themselves are old but otherwise ok - so you’ll be fine if all you are after is a place to stay the night. However, the common areas, amenities, and staff make this place unenjoyable and far worse than many 3 star hotels I’ve stayed at.
Seems like this place is an old school entertainment centre for male business clients (conferences rooms, casino and capital lounge, special spa service). Wouldn’t recommend staying here for any other purpose. Perhaps Fortuna is a premium brothel (which some other reviews have suggested), definitely not a...
Read moreRooms are clean but very old, tried to appear new with re paints and stuff but u can tell the facilities are quite old school. Like the shower knob. Power socket friendly for singaporeans and got type c charging slot. Lifts too rooms are stuffy and slow. Decided to head down to get out this place. It’s a Singapore owned hotel. U will know it by the Merlion at the entrance of the hotel. Could be more prominently placed in my opinion. Thinking of running an event in this hotel so I will need to book a seminar room. Didn’t get to meet the owner of this hotel as the bell boy said he wasn’t around. Went to see some of the seminar rooms. Unfortunately it’s quite old metallic looking and not too modernised. It seems the number of small rooms are lesser too. Only Laguna and Sentosa are small rooms but Sentosa seems too rectangular and it is used as a storage room. Only laguna room seems fine though the projector screen is slightly smaller than usual. I had the buffet lunch there for about 400k vnd. Food variety spread was awesome but I guess they started to keep at around 1.45pm as they had to close by 2. U would have thought that all drinks at the buffet are included but no… don’t go trigger happy by ordering drinks as they are charged separately and was not explicitly said at the start. Dim sum was alright.. the salted egg York was terribly disappointing. The bbq meat platter was not bad except for the duck which had broken bones in the meat as the guy chopped the duck meat really good. Porridge was good due to the century egg. The bill for 3 came up to 1.8M vnd which was rather ok I guess for the spread that we had. There was some scent of cigar smoking at the entrance due to the casino at the back. Accommodation prices were quite cut throat at 100 sgd per night. The lifts were differentiated into guest and service lifts which was kinda good but not explicitly communicated when I was in the guest lift and was trying to go to level 3. Overall hotel is in a good location near the main road which much to eat in the nearby area. Perhaps wong consider eating in-house as there are more competitively priced food along the street. Will be back in a few months for my event. Hope the standard of the seminar rooms live up to...
