Last week, my family went on a trip to Hanoi, and my brother booked two rooms at a homestay. At first, I was doubtful and hesitant about letting my parents stay there because the reviews on Google Maps weren’t very good. Fortunately, this place was actually where my brother had originally intended to live with his friends when he first came to Hanoi to study, but he didn’t rent it back then because it was too expensive for a student. Now, he booked it for our parents to stay for a few days.
The room was spacious and comfortable. It was also very affordable compared to other places. The nice things and funny thing is in the bedroom doesn’t have TV, however the owner prepared projector and speakers, which will show in the white wall, so we can watch movie 🎥 on that, very nice and creative. It’s not a luxury stay, but I think it’s a truly
good value for people who just need a place to sleep and don’t expect anything fancy. The only downside is that it’s hard to find on the Grab or Be app. I’m not sure why, but the address doesn’t seem accurate. We had to book a ride to 242 Xa Dan street, Dong Da, Hanoi and then walk about 100 meters to the homestay.
I think it’s too good when compared to the prices it offers, so i kept telling my brother to write a review for this place, ‘cause it seems not get good comment when i think it doesn’t deserve. Around this homestay people sell everything, i think it’s convinient, but be careful because they may cost you much more if they think you’re tourist, so for safe money, to me i prefer go the convenient stores instead:)))) But if you guys want to book, need to be patient and aware first about the address, sometime the driver gets lost too (but not too far, we can walk to get there). The room we booked was...
Read moreSCAM - they use one listing to try to redirect you to another hotel, then cause you trouble with refunds. We arrived at checkin time (2PM) and the security guard told us no way we would have a room at this place. He said it’s full and I should call the place. Funny thing is I did call them before checkin time to see if we can do an early check in and they did say they will look into it. We called again and voila, they said some miraculous issue happened just now with their system and we were overbooked. They immediately offered to move us to another hotel, one we do not know what it’s like, and at a whole another location. We declined, and they said they wouldn’t be able to refund us. I called them out on their behaviour and after some time, they called back saying they finally figured out the refund button and will refund us. Apparently the refund won’t even be the full amount. Hotels.com did put us up in another hotel, but only after a 2-hour call with customer support. Horrendous experience all around. If you look up Era Apartment on Google Maps, you will see that they do this scam very often. Do not...
Read moreScam, do not book this apartment. This service pulled a classic scam that is common in Vietnam. They will claim that there is a problem with the apartment and tell you that you have to relocate to another one, which they own. I was moved to this other apartment and they didn't even pay for my taxi ride after they said they would.First they tried to tell me that I had to go somewhere else, upon refusal, they said I had to relocate. There is no "reception" or any kind of service. The apartment I ended up in was decent, but the trouble getting there really ruined...
