Thong Nhat Park: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Hanoi
Thong Nhat Park, also known as Lenin Park, is one of Hanoi’s largest and most iconic public green spaces. Located in Hai Ba Trung District, just a short distance from the city center, the park offers a tranquil escape from Hanoi’s bustling streets, making it a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike.
Spanning over 50 hectares, the park features a sprawling landscape of lush trees, vibrant flower gardens, and wide-open lawns. At its heart lies Bay Mau Lake, a serene body of water surrounded by walking paths and shaded benches, providing the perfect setting for leisurely strolls or quiet moments of reflection. The park is also equipped with jogging tracks, playgrounds, and open spaces for sports, making it an ideal spot for outdoor activities.
Thong Nhat Park exudes a peaceful charm throughout the year, but it is especially beautiful in spring when flowers bloom, and in autumn when the trees' golden leaves create a picturesque setting. The park regularly hosts cultural and recreational events, adding a lively touch to its serene ambiance.
As a green lung of Hanoi, Thong Nhat Park not only offers a refreshing retreat but also serves as a cherished symbol of unity and community spirit for the...
Read moreUsually, it takes 5k VND to park your bike inside, and also 5k VND to enter the park. However, if your negotiation skill is in advanced level, you can enter the park for free- as long as you walk from home to the park. This park is quite green with tall trees, no animal restrictions- which means you can bring your dog/rabbits/hamsters inside, but also be careful because there are other very big dogs. My dog (a miniature punscher breed- Phoc, in Vietnamese way to call) once almost got bitten by a Phu Quoc breed, luckily we discovered the two soon enough so that nothing regretful happened. hihi I would prefer a jog in this park early in the morning, or in the late afternoon. It has fantastic views of the sunrise and sunset. Around the park, a lot of classes are taught- from yoga, to dancing, aerobics and gym. Many families also hang out to play tennis, badminton or just hide and seek. Many couples also choose this place to go on dates, because it provides enough intimacy, and also quite safe during day time. About events: there are, quite often. I myself had joined Vegetarian Food festival, Children’s Day Festival, and many other types in this park. The place holding events is usually the area near...
Read moreI stumbled upon this park randomly around 4pm. It's a very lively park with many locals doing handfuls of different activities. The walk around the body of water is a perfect way to wind down just before the sun sets. The temperature was just right. I noticed a lot of people exercising and engaging in sports (like badminton and fishing). I saw some local cool kids skateboarding. So many cute dogs as well!
As a tourist, I especially enjoyed seeing the locals doing their own thing. I was tempted to join the group of men kicking around to what I think is a modified shuttlecock. It looked like a mix of hacky sack/volleyball (with your feet).
I noticed there were swan boats, a roller coaster, bumper cars and a little train that goes around the park. However, all those activities we're not being used. I wonder why? Do they still operate? I would love to know because doing the swan boat on the lake would be quite an enjoyable experience.
I definitely recommend everybody to come check this park out if you wanted to kill some time or even enjoy a leisurely walk without all the chaos from...
