My wife and I got married in Haiphong this year. We had about 30 guests from Australia fly over for our wedding and we made the decision to tell everyone to book the same hotel, which turned out to be a terrific idea. ||The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and beautiful. It is very much a five star experience staying in them. The amenities are great: the gym and the pool are both of a high quality and all of our party enjoyed using them. Many of our friends and family had their make up done at the spa in the hotel for the wedding and they were very impressed.||The staff are especially capable and attentive. One staff member Jeanie (Ngọc) went out of her way to make our stay a good one. She arranged for decorations to be sent to our room on our wedding night and also organized for our party to be allowed use the bar well past midnight on our wedding night when everyone had returned for the evening. We needed a lot of taxis to get our large group around Haiphong and Ngọc was able to get them quickly and explain to every driver where we needed to go (most of our party don't speak Vietnamese so that was especially helpful). The other staff were very helpful as well, catering to our requests promptly and happily.||The room service is very reasonably priced and is also very delicious. We ordered an afternoon tea special and got 9 cakes for 250000VND which is about $15 AUD. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I've had in a while. Hotel Pho is usually not great but this one is solid.||Thanks to Melia VinPearl (and Ngọc!) For making our stay and out wedding a pleasant one. Looking after 30 friends and family can be a bit stressful and this hotel really helped us a lot and allowed us to relax and enjoy our...
Read moreI stayed in Melia Rivera Hotel of HaiPhong. My feedback
Positives Ambience & feel of hotel is good. I feel very fresh, moment I enter the Hotel premises All necessary things provided in room are great. I enjoy welcome snacks. All services are prompt. Overall food is great. It allows us to change the preferences as per our daily requirements. At some point of time if i wanted to have only little meal with more vegitables & fruits, then it is there. Indian food has variety. Many options to eat. Homely feeling with the the wide menu. Seafood items are great. I enjoy Georgian rice. Grilled items are great. I enjoy fish every time whenever its grilled version is available. Attendance & food court greetings gives mesmerizing feeling. Great hospitality.
Improvement Indian food need little improvement. Lighting in the room is purposefully kept Dim. This should be actually in the way, we wanted. Bright OR Dim. Personally I dont like to stay in Dim lighting. I need to switch ON all lamps to have full light in room but, it is kind of yellowish. This tends to push me earlier on bed, which is good but not for the person who want to spare some time on...
Read moreA massive thanks first to Tammy, Linh and Chloe on front desk for making our short visit first class!! Blown away by their kindness and hospitality. Same for the staff in the front and restaurant.
First time visiting Haiphong and the hotel created a great first impression. Spotless, big and airy building, well designed and spacious and impeccable bathroom and bedroom. Had three wonderful nights sleep.
Breakfast is large in selection, fresh produce and delicious. Dinner was also delicious, but when we stayed, the restaurant was pretty empty.
The Level Lounge is spacious too with a good selection of drinks and snacks during afternoon tea. All complimentary for Level users, which can offer amazing value for money.
The hotel is popular with business travellers, since the port of Haiphong is the leading one in northern Vietnam. End of December, the hotel was quiet.
As a tourist, the city is nice and peaceful, but easy to see the majority of it in a couple of days. Well worth visiting though. Really interesting city with a lot of history. Complete contrast to the capital, Hanoi, under two hours west inland!
Well done Meliá...
