Ocean House An Bang — Hotel in Hội An

There are many reviews on this place and I agree with all – all lovely. I will not comment on anything else other to say it is lovely. Why I am not giving it 5 stars - getting there was a nightmare and I am now going to list exactly what you have to do to get there, so guests do not have to go through the frustration we did.||||Firstly, the address given on all sites (booking.com etc.) Is totally wrong, just points to the beach and is 10 minutes away from the actual place. We were told that we would receive instructions on how to get there close to the time, but we did not. I wrote several times and in the end had the girl call them from our previous hotel. We got an address to go to on the phone, HOWEVER we were not told 4 important facts about this address (which was different to the one on the internet.)||||1) This is NOT the actual address at all. Not even where you pick up the keys.||2) Taxis cannot go down the last part of the journey||3) It is a 5 minute walk away from this address to the real place. It is not signposted. We were not given directions and told we had to walk.||4) This address is not listed in Grab.||5) This place has several names (ocean villas, ocean views, ocean house and more.)||||When we got to this address I left a metered taxi running to ask locals where it was as 185 was boarded up. This is what I discovered:||||1) If you are going by normal taxi, give them this address: 185 Nguyễn Phan Vinh, Cẩm An, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam. Note: This is a random place entirely and NOT the lodge or where you pick up the keys.||||2) If you are going by grab, the closest address is this: 211 Nguyễn Phan Vinh, Cẩm An, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam||You will have to use your eyes to find 185 which is very close to this. ||||3) If you have lots of bags and need help, have the taxi driver wait there at 185. If not get your bags and prepare to walk!||||4) 185 is directly opposite a small road which heads down to the beach. Walk down the whole length of this road, 3-5 minutes, and on the left at the very end you will see a blue gate with several names on (Ocean Villas, Ocean Views, Ocean House)||||5) You have arrived!||||I urge the owners to change the Google address and to state exactly that this place is not accessible by taxi and tell people on the internet or in an upfront email to go to 185 (or 211 for Grab) then take the road opposite and walk for 3-5 minutes. I would also decide on 1 name as 3 names for a 3 roomed hotel is a bit much!||||Otherwise,...

This was a homestay where we felt detached in our own space, but that was fine. We felt beach side simplicity in an oasis of a garden.

The space does not directly view the water yet we made our best use of it when swimming out front and that was perfect to come home easily or nip out for a swim.

The neighbors run the laundry and the locals 3 ladies beach club worth supporting, they bring food cooked at home.

The beaches are suffering from tourist rubbish, please take a bin bag with you everywhere and contribute to the cleanup, it's getting ruined especially by smokers.

This is the quieter northern end of the suburb, more local people less clubs.

You could compare the prices yet we felt happy and stayed 4 days, a great base for the area.

Our host was helpful and available yet we needed little, didn't hang out yet appreciated them and their help arranging an airport pickup.

I had a bad experience here. The little room off on the side with the chain link fence is very different that what is posted on Bookings.com where they have beautiful flowers along the concrete wall. Basically your neighbor next door of the chain link in able to cleft a clear view of you and you them. The concrete wall is. It at all appealing from the room. That is your view. I had multiple bookings and mistakenly booked this room thinking I had book one of the other rooms. I was severely disappointed. The staff was very apologetic and accommodating. What wasn’t acceptable was the owner said I was a NO SHOW on booking.com and I could not leave a review there. He also charged for the 3 night stay that I stayed.
