IF YOU’RE EXPECTING A 5 STAR STAY, then it will let you down! CHECK IN & FIRST IMPRESSION - We were welcomed by the door boy and rather enthusiastically brought us inside and guided us to the check in counter. When we are there, a male staff looked at us offering no smile or hospitality whatsoever and left us hanging. A female staff approached us and directed us to have a sit whilst we wait for check in. No welcome drink is offered. - it was extremely crowded and no seats were available near the check in area. Sofas are dirty and torn apart, and there was a leakage from the roof in another sofa area. We resorted to sitting at the R Bar. - When checking in, I was told that there’s shuttle bus available to the old town and I immediately booked for the night. In a truly epic moment, I was then told that it’s fully booked. I asked if there’s additional buses to which the receptionist said that I should book earlier? (Note that I was checking in at that time). STAY - I would say around 60% of the staff are friendly. The rest will not even say Hi to you. BREAKFAST - Good spread however the restaurant was filthy and severely understaffed. Food was not refilled fast enough, a lot of the items were missing, and staff couldn’t remember our order. Table not set up properly, one’s missing a fork, another missing a napkin. LATE CHECK OUT - As a platinum elite member, I understand that late check out is subject to availability upon request at resorts. However, when I requested for late check out, I was told by the receptionist that it is not possible as the hotel is fully booked. I then asked if I can check out slightly later at 1230PM or 1PM to which I was resoundingly rejected. When I was checking out the next day, I realised that the hotel has taken in either a large group booking / tour booking and overall the experience just felt very cramped and honestly no ‘elite benefits’ whatsoever. It felt like a low grade 3 star hotel offering cheap rates to agency to fill out the rooms. I was offered 2 NON-ALCOHOLIC drink at the R Bar as compensation. Surely you guys can do better than that. I have stayed at many hotels and as a travel blogger myself, I can say this is one of the more negative experiences I’ve had staying at a Marriott property. Both me and my partner agreed and were glad that we decided to stay only 1 night at Renaissance Hoi An. + Points : I was offered 2 coconuts, a plate of dried nuts/fruits, and a cake as we are celebrating our honeymoon. Thanks to the team for preparing this and for your hospitality.

Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa: A Home Away From Home This review is dedicated to the incredible staff at Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa who truly made my solo trip an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. Navigators: Your Personal Concierges The "Navigators" at this resort are more than just staff; they are personal concierges who go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. I am truly thankful Ms. Linh, Ms. Thuong & Chef Chau at the lobby bar who are always kind and do beyond to ensure that I had a great experiences here. They anticipated my needs, offered personalized recommendations, and consistently checked in to make sure I was comfortable and enjoying myself. Ms. Linh remembered my preferences and tailored my experiences accordingly. For example, when I mentioned my love for food, she suggested Cooking Class and offered many flexibility on the course and also arranged the time based on my need! During my Cooking Class with Chef Chau, she was always approachable and happy during the session, offering valuable insights into local culture and answering any questions I had. Which boosted my confidence in Com Ga Hoi An dishes now! Every staff member I encountered at the resort was incredibly friendly and attentive. From the reception staff to the restaurant servers, everyone greeted me with a smile and made me feel genuinely welcome. The staff consistently went the extra mile to ensure my comfort and happiness. Thanks to Ms. Thuong, I never had any uncomfortable moments during the dining time, despite it’s quite packed with many guests. Her genuine hospitality shone through. Even though I was traveling solo, the staff created a sense of community by engaging with me and making me feel like part of the resort family.. While attentive, the staff also respected my need for privacy and alone time, allowing me to fully enjoy my solo journey at my own pace. Overall: My stay at Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa was truly exceptional. The staff, particularly the Navigators, created an environment that felt like a home away from home. Their personalized attention, genuine hospitality, and commitment to making my solo trip memorable exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend this resort to any traveler, especially those embarking on a solo adventure.

TLDR: Nice hotel with great welcome drinks, early check-in/late check-out perks, and an amazing breakfast buffet featuring local Vietnamese cuisine. Super convenient beachside location next to the pool. Only downside was the unenforced no-smoking policy at the pool. I would consider returning if the smoking issue is addressed. Our arrival was lovely, marked by a warm welcome and refreshing kalamansi-like drinks – a delightful first impression. The hotel staff were also incredibly accommodating, granting us an appreciated three-hour early check-in for one of our three rooms and a late check-out on another. This flexibility truly made our travel day smoother. The complimentary kids' club was a fantastic amenity, and our children seemed to enjoy it. However, the lack of cameras in the childcare area did make us a little uneasy about leaving them unsupervised by one attendant and varying range of ages of other children. Without a doubt, the breakfast buffet was a standout feature of our stay. The extensive selection of local Vietnamese dishes was a culinary delight. From flavorful pho and hearty banh canh to delicious banh mi and rich beef noodle soup, there was something for everyone. Surprisingly enough the oder by request omelet station was even good! And the Vietnamese coffee? Absolutely spot on – even better than some we tried at local cafes. I'm not talking about the machine-made coffees I saw people using. The hotel's location is another major plus. Being just steps away from the beach and right next to the main public pool was incredibly convenient, especially with kids in tow. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't entirely flawless. We were quite disappointed by the pool staff's apparent lack of enforcement regarding the no-smoking policy clearly displayed around the pool and surrounding areas. This was a significant letdown and detracted from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Especially with all the children just trying to enjoy the pool. Overall, there hotel offers a lot to love, from its welcoming staff and fantastic breakfast to its prime beachfront location. Addressing the pool smoking issue would undoubtedly elevate the experience to an even higher level. We would consider returning, hoping for improvement in this area

How do I begin to describe the Renaissance Hoi An and the incredible experience we had there? Maybe it’s the stunning waterfront views that take your breath away the moment you arrive, or the top-notch facilities, like the expansive, modern gym, the serene 48-meter pool, or the vibrant kids' activities room that makes it a family paradise. Then there’s the luxurious spa, where highly trained masseuses use fragrant, locally sourced products to create an experience that’s pure relaxation. And, of course, the food deserves its own spotlight—because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t appreciate great food? The breakfast is a culinary masterpiece, offering a seemingly endless spread of local and international dishes, with something to delight every taste.

The rooms are equally impressive. Whether you’re staying in a spacious junior suite, complete with a separate living room, or indulging in one of the 3- to 5-bedroom waterview villas, each boasting a private 7-meter pool and fully equipped kitchen, you’ll feel like royalty.

But as wonderful as the facilities and food are, they aren't what made our stay truly unforgettable. The people did. The staff at the Renaissance Hoi An are exceptional—genuine, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. My husband and I often find ourselves reflecting on the warmth and care we received, even now, while staying at another resort in Sri Lanka. What was supposed to be a six-day stay turned into nearly a month, all because we felt so well taken care of and at home.

The team didn’t just meet our needs—they anticipated them. From checking on me when I wasn’t feeling well to making my birthday celebration special, they constantly went above and beyond. We weren’t just guests; we felt like we were surrounded by friends. Ambassador Thuy, in particular, stood out—her passion and dedication shone in everything she did. The chef, too, went the extra mile to personally ensure my dietary restrictions were accommodated. The restaurant staff even walked me through the buffet, offering custom meals to suit my needs.

And let’s talk about the spa—yes, Vietnam is known for its massages but after trying several local spots, we kept coming back to the Renaissance’s spa. The quality of the treatments was incomparable, and I made it a point to indulge several times a week throughout our stay.

We spent nearly all of our time at the resort, only leaving for the occasional trip to explore Hoi An and Da Nang, but always eager to return. The energy at the Renaissance Hoi An is uplifting and positive, with the entire team—from the groundskeepers who meticulously tend the gardens to the housekeeping staff and bellmen—greeting us with genuine smiles. This atmosphere of warmth and hospitality is a direct reflection of the remarkable leadership of General Manager Mr. Jean and his equally impressive Operations Manager, Mrs. Hong.

Mr. Jean’s sincere dedication to making every guest’s experience special was clear. His team’s admiration and respect for him were evident, and that sense of respect was present in everything they did. It’s rare to see a general manager so involved in every detail, and even rarer to find one who does it with such grace and humility. Mrs. Hong, with her sharp attention to detail and hands-on approach, was constantly ensuring that everything ran smoothly. Together, they created a leadership duo that radiated harmony and positivity, making us feel more like family than guests.

The Renaissance Hoi An isn’t just a resort—it’s a sanctuary of kindness, care, and exceptional service. We made some of our best memories there, and we can’t...
