Lai Tran Hotel — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

I was staying less than a three minute walk from friends so it was worth it. The bathroom was a flushing typical toilet and a glass wall shower. The bed was double for me. Standard dorm style. Standard television - not flat screen. There is a dorm size fridge! Enough space to hang clothes and unpack. It was perfect for what I needed. This is a smoking hotel like many are in Vietnam. I could only smell it in elevator or lobby. The elevator is great and wifi number is on the wall of it inside. ||This area is not a tourist area but a short 8-10 minute walk to lovely Pearl Plaza where there is "California Fitness and Yoga Center." There is also a Starbucks in this center, a grocery store down stairs and really nice stores, pharmacy and food court. It is child friendly as well. If you are staying a,week it's cheaper to get a month pass - it has a state-of-the-art gym. Young adult orientated but I am 58 and felt very comfortable. ||You are 2 - 3 miles of every tourist area you would want to visit in Ho Chi Minh City. The taxi's are cheap. You can get taxi car or motor taxi right outside. Take a Lai Tran business card from reception with you for getting taxis back to hotel.||Music blares through speakers in this area but it stops at 9 or 10 pm which is great.There must be an noise ordinance/law. ||If you want your room cleaned leave your key at front desk. Don't leave loose cash on desk or its mistaken for tip. I left a bag of all my receipts for taxes in a zip-lock bag and it was mistaken as trash. I had no problems when things such as phones, I Pad was left in draws. ||Great coffee shops and traditional Vietnamese food steps from this hotel.Check out the Coffee Factory to the right coming out of hotel. Delicious lattes! There are banks and cellular stores for SAM cards on the street. Go to Mobifone stand at airport and get data on a 2 week plan. It's about $5 for SAM and $5 for minutes. I regret not doing this at the airport. ||If you arrive in the evening there is not translation. Daytime is much better. They take US or Viet money. ||I was there 8 days.
