I stayed at Oakwood for 6 weeks in the Disctrict Bình Thạnh, Saigon. During that time I always had clean & good smelling sheets and towels. (Best towels! They are so fluffy & thick! 🥰) The bed is very comfortable, not too hard and not too soft. The blanket is thin and breathable, but keeps you warm at the same time. This is necessary because you definitely want to sleep with air conditioning. I like that you can set it to different modes, which is not always possible in other hotels.
The options to satisfy your needs are very wide at Oakwood because you can always ask for whatever you need and they'll bring it to you. 😌👍 I asked for drinking water and they brought me a large 18 liter water supply, which was cheaper than the small bottles you can get in some supermarkets.💦 All in all the staff was always friendly & helpful. ☀️The room service was cleaning well, the door guys always helpful with luggage and the receptionists always had an open ear for wishes. They even tried to answer and help organize trips that were not usually in their area of expertise.🥳👍 They made an effort to please the guests and you could feel that they really cared.🥰 (Special thanks to Sun, Nicole, Quang, Vera, Louis and many more...❤️)
I can hardly think of anything that was missing. Maybe just the wet wipes in the gym for the exercise equipment. I told them they were missing and they took care of it. 💪😃 But again, in the gym you have fluffy big towels to put under you while you work out and you have free drinking water.💦 I think the only thing that really bothered me at first was that the architecture of the shower makes the water drain a little slow. But I got used to it. At the end of each shower, I would wait a little while for the water to drain and then wash my feet before sliding into my bathing slippers.
I enjoyed having a washing machine, hangers and ironing board+iron. For people who do not want to do their own laundry, Oakwood also has a laundry service or you can just take your laundry to the laundry salon right next to Oakwood. 👔👗 The laundry salon also offers a sneaker washing service for 50,000 VND. 👟This is just what you need if you're going to explore some of Saigon's neighborhoods on foot. (Your shoes will get pretty dirty!😛)
The bar at the Oakwood is not part of the hotel. Depending on who makes the drinks, they can be good, as the bartenders change quite often. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, so I can't say how it is. But I do know that the view from the breakfast area is phenomenal.🥳 I'm told the rooftop bar is under construction. I am sure the evening view from there will be spectacular.✨🌙 Next time I'm in Saigon, I hope it's finished so I can check it out. 🍀
In summary, I can say that I felt at home at Oakwood. 🥰🥰🥰 I felt wonderfully cared for and had a very good...
Read moreOverall a nice stay at this property but I have a few reservations and comments.
I booked this property as I was spending a full week in the city and being an Oakwood customer for the past 20 years in the US, I wanted to try the product outside of North America for the first time.
Staff is very nice and accommodating and common areas are bright, inviting and have been recently renovated.
I booked a Standard Studio that was quite sterile and uninviting compared to the colourful promotional pictures. The rooms seem to be stuck in the 90’s and need a major remodelling for look and practicality to match the purpose of a long-term stay for nowadays’ business needs.
The seating area is made of 2 uncomfortable armchairs of a dirty dark gray colour that gives a filthy look. A couch would be much more comfortable and nicer to feel more at home. The lighting concept of the whole unit is just bad with aggressive and misplaced bright ceiling lights. There is no ambiance lamp, none on the bedside table (I had to ask for one and it helped a lot), none by the desk working area. There is a light switch and a plug right in the center of the wall behind the mattress that does make any sense and controls bright ceiling lights in the middle of the room. Lastly, the kitchen accessories could be upgraded a little bit to provide a few more cooking basic items. The fridge is literally a tiny minibar, not adequate at all with the purpose of a long-term-stay property. I feel the whole concept of the unit is dated and needs to be redone completely.
The property is equipped with a nice gym and has a roof-top restaurant (not managed by Oakwood) that gives an impressive 365-degree view of the neighbourhood. Food is another story and I already made a review of my experience up there. A little café in the lobby also provides some basic drinks and snacks.
Location for me was perfect as I wanted to be in between Thao Dien and the city center. Metro station is a short walk away, along with the upscale Landmark 81 Shopping Mall which is fantastic (walk or Grab) with a large grocery store and a VIP movie theatre. City Center is just a couple of stations away for 7,000...
Read moreThank you so much to the incredible staff at Oakwood for making our stay such a wonderful experience yet again. We first stayed at Oakwood back in July and spent two weeks at this beautiful hotel. We loved it so much so, that we returned on 25th October and stayed for 17 nights.
A special thanks to Kenneth, Sun, Loc, Nicole, Vera and Linh for the excellent hospitality! The team were very welcoming, and always went above and beyond to provide us with such incredible service and support. As a nice gesture from the team, we were given two Oakwood tote bags and vouchers to use at the trend lounge as an appreciation gift which we were extremely grateful for. This was not expected but really made our experience here that extra special.
During my time back in Saigon I spent two days unexpectedly in hospital due to an unexpected health event. The team were very helpful in quickly assisting us to the nearest hospital. The staff showed genuine concern and compassion and checked in regularly to make sure we were ok. On our return from the hospital and once we had settled back into the room, the team brought up a hot cup of fresh ginger, lemon and honey tea too which was very delicious.
In terms of the hotel itself, relative to the price you pay, the rooms are incredible. The rooms are modern and spacious, and the bed is extremely comfortable. There is a gym which is well equipped and different working areas and spaces. The area is in a local neighbourhood however there’s lots of cafes, convenience stores, pharmacy, and all the essential services near-by. There is an excellent laundry service right next to the hotel which I highly recommend. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service available at 9am and 4pm to take you to some of the amazing hotspots in Saigon. Overall a great place to stay!
If you love friendly staff who greet you every time they see you and take the extra time to ask how your day has been and how you are, then you will absolutely love Oakwood. We highly recommend and can’t wait until we return for our next holiday. Thank you amazing people, until next...
