Reception staff are very helpful and attentive. They go out of their way to help, and are the reason for the two stars. THEIR service was five-star worthy. The rooms are fine, too.
But two mornings in a row housekeeping staff walked in without knocking or any warning. We were in bed both times We complained the first day, but the same thing happened the following day. The glasses and cups in the room were not washed or replaced during out stay--they were just put back with the dried coffee in the bottoms, unwashed. The housekeeper also told us to give our laundry directly to him to wash and pay him directly since if we called the front desk he wouldn't get paid for it. A little sketchy . . .
The fire alarm system is messed up, and all three days went off randomly, including four times between 8:30pm and 10:45pm the last night. However, no one came to inform us why the fire alarm was going off. It wasn't until I walked down four flights of stairs to the front desk that I was told that there was some malfunction of the alarm system. I came back up and told the dozens of guests who were standing outside their rooms, wondering if they need to evacuate because of a fire, it was a malfunction. Not very reassuring to know the fire alarm system isn't working . . .
Bottom line--I won't be staying here...
Read moreFor a three star hotel, Dong Xuyen really deserves more than that. The staff was helpful, polite, and very friendly. Dong Xuyen embodies what makes a hotel great. For me, the staff is what makes or breaks a hotel. The food here was great. Although there weren't many choices, almost ever dish was delicious and fresh. We left a tip for the clean up staff but they thought we forgot our money and gave it to us. If you leave money around in Vietnam, it'll be gone in a second. I was very impressed by the honesty the staff had. The rooms were tidy, the bathtub wasn't very functional because water came out onto the floor and the cleaning ladies never knock before they come in. I noticed they air dry the linens so that's a down side. The emergency stairs had bed sheets and linen hung all over by the cleaning ladies which is a big no no. My advice to make Dong Xuyen even better? Retrain the...
Read moreLong xuyen and partner cuu long next door is very inexperienced in running a hotel chain.
First, within 10 days stay. Elevator shut power and parents were stuck inside for half hour, without backup generator or safety precaution. Even the call button was disabled. Luckily we were near.
Second, air conditioner doesnt work in some room and instead of passing us to the next avaialable room while they fix it -- the they said it costs 100,000 more and sent us over to their partner hotel cuu long. This hotel has no windows or anything, no bottled water, no heater or working hot water. Walls are full of mold and foot prints.
Then after we checked out, they charged us an additional 150,000 because apparently they said coke gets spoiled in the damn fridge.. and once I put it in I have to buy it. So here I am with a bag of 10 drinks and 150,000 less in my wallet..
