Hi! Staying at this place felt sincerely wrong to me. I have a white little @ss, I only speak French and English, but even using Google Translate (writing short and simple sentences) almost didn't help communicating with the personnel of this third zone homestay/café. There was a scent of mold coming from the ventilation system and mold on it. The shower didn't work, initially (thank you to the young man who fixed it). The shower's handle still kept falling after the operation, of course. The corridors leading to the room were not cleaned (cigarette butts here and there). The neighborhood was depressing to look at (which is probably the case in many parts of this town anyway). The aspect that really lowered my mood and made me feel that staying two nights (out of the three I made reservations for) was a depressing mistake was that I didn't feel welcome and maybe even bothersome, embarrassing to the majority of the staff working there. One was smily, which I appreciated. I have been able to find a smile or pleasant vibe coming from people who didn't speak my language in many places in southeast Asia, including Vietnam. But in this place, I felt like the wrong lifeform at the wrong place, for the most part. It is not the end of the world. Go look on Agoda for the price of a night there and you will understand that you can even leave the place without sleeping there without paying it any second thought and it won't be a problem for an occidental. Simply, I love Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese people for the most part, but couldn't bring myself to enjoy anything about that place, really (except for the part of the infrastructure that is a café, which is fine really). Beware: the café downstairs is open early and closes late, and the music is quite noisy I'd say, so it might be difficult to have a good night of sleep. It was also the first time that hotel staff couldn't make reservations for a bus ticket for me in SEA. Just slightly more complicated. Initially, I wanted to say that this place should only remain open as a café, but in the end, I'm sure that Vietnamese people are at ease with such a standard, for the most part. Also, they can communicate with their hosts and must receive a warmer welcome. In the end, this place should only accept Vietnamese tourists. It would be perfect. Not so many reasons to feel grateful...
Read moreWe stayed at the homestay here and frequented the cafe downstairs.
Regarding the homestay: The photos of the room really understates the size and comfort. They're very large, well maintained and very clean. The decor is current and unique. The airconditioning works beautifully, internet is fast and easily accessible. The laundry service was about a one day turn around and came back fresh and clean. The service was too notch. No English spoken but a lot of effort put into translating for you.
The cafe was beautiful, fun and full of people all the time. Good drinks, good prices. Everything on the menu tastes great.
We had a great time, I really...
