Muong Thanh Grand Tuyen Quang Hotel — Hotel in Tuyen Quang

Where do we begin. First off, this is not a 4-star hotel, not by any stretch of the imagination. We arrived early and asked if we could check in. The parking was empty, the lobby was empty, basically a ghost town. We were told no due to hotel policy by the manager on duty; come back at noon or 1pm otherwise pay up. The hotel was empty, so there were rooms available. So much for customer service.

We left and came back around 12:30 and were finally allowed to check in. Of all the rooms, they gave us the only room that was occupied. There were sandals on the floor, and the bed was a mess. We waited to be moved to another room.

The room we were given was okay but quite dated and not the cleanest. The carpet had a lot of visible stains. It's supposed to be a non-smoking floor, but clearly, people were smoking in the hallway and probably in their rooms, too.

Around 7:30pm, we went to go to the restaurant and again, another ghost town. No staff present, not one single person insight. We then went down to the front desk to order food and were given the run around. The manager on the phone was telling the front desk staff to charge us additional taxes and tips that are already included in the price. Hello, it's written on the menu! Needless to say, we did not eat dinner here.

In the morning we woke up hoping to get breakfast which supposedly opened at 6:30. We arrived at 6:45 to a completely packed room, with slim pickings for food. These people clearly are locals coming to eat as the hotel had literally no guests. Guess what, no food again.

Never at any hotel, motel, guesthouse, or Airbnb have we been treated so poorly and not made to feel welcome. Customer service here is a giant zero.

This is a very nice hotel, comfortable, cool, clean, QUIET roooms, good facilities, freindly and professional staff. The pho in the morning is excellent, and there is also some decent Western food on the breakfast buffet.
