A Poem of Gratitude to Protea Lusaka - Zambia !!!
In the vibrant heart of Lusaka’s grace, Where Zambia’s spirit finds its warm embrace, A gracious surprise, a gift so rare, Protea’s charm beyond compare.
From Marriott’s realm, where dreams are spun, A little mix-up, yet I’ve truly won, For here I’ve dwelled in comfort’s glow, A ten-night stay, a treasured show.
O Protea, jewel of Zambia’s land, Your welcoming arms, so gentle, grand, With smiles like sunshine, bright and sweet, Each moment here, a soft heartbeat.
Your staff, a chorus of kindness and care, Ensuring every need is met with flair, With tender service, warm and true, A testament to hearts so pure and new.
The security’s watch, firm yet kind, In every glance, a peace I find, And Constance Kangamungazi’s grace, A leader with a radiant face.
Mr. MutaMeKwe, with eyes so sharp, Guides your team, a steadfast arc, While Guardiglli Mauro’s charm and Italian art Bring warmth and joy to every part.
The buffet spread, a feast divine, With flavors rich and staff so fine, Each dish prepared with love’s own hand, A culinary dream, so grand, so planned.
Eldest lady mascot, Mad. Mercy Mwale wisdom’s light, Her presence adds a special sight, A symbol of your storied past, Ensuring memories that last.
And in this palace, shining bright, Two gentle souls brought pure delight, Mr. Aubry and Mr. Mitchel, true and kind, Whose diligent hands left no detail behind.
With every touch, your rooms became thrones, A palace of peace, where comfort reigns alone. Tidy and pristine, with care so grand, You made my space a regal land.
Like kings of cleanliness, with grace you move, Ensuring each corner whispers soothe. Your dedication, a silent song, Made my stay feel perfectly strong.
Oh, how I thank you, humble and true, For all the magic that you do, Turning simple rooms into royal retreats, Where every moment feels complete.
Dear Protea, stars so bright, Your efforts turned my days to light. In the palace of your warm embrace, Your kindness etched a cherished place.
To you, dear Protea, I extend My heartfelt thanks, my sincerest best friend stay, For making my stay a shining star, A moment cherished, near and far.
Thank you, from Dr. Géry Maes Van de Vorst. www.TheWorldSpeaking.com

Read moreThe available parking is too minimal, hence we struggled to park (and can only imagine the chaos when one intends to check out early). The guys at reception that evening tried to rush me through check in, which was strange as I was the only one there! The rooms need a facelift, especially the bathrooms. The windows are quite dirty! An interesting moment outside occurred and trying to take a picture from my second floor room was impossible due to the dirt on the windows. In the morning, the staff in the restaurant were chatting and laughing at the top of their voices (in vernacular) right next to us! My wife simple quipped - 'so unprofessional'. At check out, we had a bill of 1 Zambian Kwacha (about 10 US cents)! The lady tried to explain that it was something to do with the 1.5 per cent tourism levy. I handed her a 10 kwacha note, the smallest denomination i had. She didn't have change and asked the porter to go outside to look for some! I quickly asked that the porter could keep the change to himself, to allow us to settle the bill and leave, Suffice to say, we were happy to leave when it was time to check out! I have been consistently using Protea/ Marriot for a decade, and this was my worst experience, totally unlike any other facility...
Read moreI recently stayed at Protea Hotel Cairo Road in Lusaka, and overall, it was a good experience. The location is very central—right in the middle of town—which made it easy for me to move around for meetings and quick errands. If you’re doing business in Lusaka, it’s quite a convenient spot. The staff were friendly and professional. Check-in was smooth, and they were helpful whenever I needed something. The room was clean and had all the basics I needed—comfortable bed, working air conditioning, and a reliable Wi-Fi connection. The restaurant was decent. I had breakfast there, and the food was fresh and enough to start the day. The rooms facing the roadside gets noisy sometimes because of the traffic. One thing to note: the hotel doesn’t have a pool, so if you’re looking for those facilities, this might not be the right place. But for a short business stay, it served me well.Overall, I’d say Protea Cairo Road is a solid, practical choice if you need to stay in Lusaka’s city center. Clean, safe, and efficient.NB : In the photos it seems a bit messy as i took the photo before checkout but they are very clean...
