Read moreMcDonalds at Lakelands Shopping Centre Western Australia This is the place that we three men meet for coffee, a muffin and a soft serve ice cream, usually around 2pm on the Friday. All of us are over 70 years of age and we enjoy the simple pleasures of life like good coffee, good conversation and the ability to hear what the other is saying.
Sadly it becomes a noisy place after 3pm when school ends and students visit McDonalds for something to eat and drink. It is noticeable that security is present at the same time the students enter this establishment. The noise levels go up and there is a lot of shouting between the students. Food is discarded on the table and on the floor. Full credit to the staff at McDonalds but they are fighting a losing battle.
We three gentlemen order coffee or a latte. The coffee is free to seniors if you order something to eat. We usually opt for a muffin (blueberry or chocolate - heated in the microwave). All of this is followed by a soft serve ice cream some 15 to 20 minutes later.
We have noticed a change in standards in the past 2-3 months. Management is now Chinese and rarely do you warrant a smile. Very little attention is paid to the order and often we have to ask for the muffins to be heated (as per the request when the order is placed). The look that is given to you is one of discourtesy. What happened to pleasant customer service? Whatever happened to an apology when you get the order wrong? The pleasantness is no longer there. Also, the order for the soft serve ice cream is forgotten and one of us has to remind the front counter staff.
There is also a lack of serviettes. Strangely, they have disappeared. If you need some, you have to ask. Is McDonalds on an economy drive? Is this how they view their customers?
McDonalds do not have a competitor in terms of coffee for seniors from Hungry Jacks. Perhaps it is time that HJ step up and demonstrate how it should be done.
I rue the change to McDonalds and am thinking that it is better that I stay home and make do with pot or packet coffee (it is not the same thing I admit when McDonalds make it). I buy my muffins from Coles or Woolworths including the ice creams. At home in my lounge there is no noise and we sit on comfortable seats with access to serviettes if needed. Also there no mess. The wives join in the conversation and enjoy...

Update Apr 2022 from mid 2021. Still really annoyed nothing has happened to rectify these issues and many visting family and friends of mine are digusted just as I am... The amount of trolleys still not collected, even after hours, as I mentioned 6 months ago, I am reluctant to park here now. The amount of rubbish everywhere outside, around near the periphery of the car parks it's very disgusting, people just throw their maccas rubbish everywhere it really brings the great shopping centre down. Worst of all it seems that that nothing is being done to rectify it STILL!!!
2021 Please, Please do something about the amount of trolleys left out everywhere. Even after hours there are alot of them sculling around the car parks, this will cause issues in possible damage to parked cars!!!
Update from 3 years ago. It's coming along well, and excited to see the new Chinese restaurant open soon. It has always been a clean and inviting centre, has great friendly staff too. We now have a news agency and great food outlets. Great centre overall.
The only bad news is we still need a post office and an ATM excessible from outside for after hours withdrawals, also there are too many shopping trolleys left out out always in the carpark after hours and surrounding periphery and fencing of the centre carpark needs the fast food wrappers cleaned up to complete the whole centres image as clean. But great overall.
Review 3 years ago. Looking forward to its completion, and hopefully filled up with even more decent shops, not just fashion outlets and pie shops.. We need banking, news agency and a post office outlet...It doesn't have an ATM just cash out at EFTPOS points like Coles. It's convenient being just a minute away.. I wish the opening hours where not regional times,...
