Lancelin Sandboards Hire — Local services in Lancelin

We went sandboarding only. Saturday of the summer school holidays. Opening hours shown here are from 9am, we arrived at 9:30 to be rudely told by the woman that they do not open until 10am, in a manner as though I should have known that. No apology from her about the incorrectly advertised opening times. She was even more rude when they opened, in the way she prioritised the large queue of people there.

Furthermore, they charge a flat rate $2.50 EFTPOS fee, regardless of the amount you spend. So a $10 board hire and $200 ATV hire have the same fee. This is ridiculous, as it should be a percentage that is at-cost only.

The sandboard prices also aren’t cheap given their poor condition. Lastly, they are getting super tight on wax; she tried to give me just a single piece of one-quarter of a circle of wax (tiny) for three boards! What happens if I hire one board? Or five?

Very little structure, and a very poorly managed business.

The actual sandboarding on the dunes is fun with a young family, but note there is a lot of broken glass at the bottom of the dunes, so caution walking around barefoot,...

for every action sport enthusiast save your money. they dont let you drive by yourself, you follow a caravan, no overtaking, no drifting, no fun! i basically paid 130$ to be stuck in traffic in the desert. this was so disappointing, we made like 15 km/h the most of the time, it felt like emerry-go-around it was ridiculous. they hand you helmets where maybe 1000 other guys have sweatet in without a baclava or something. i only give two and not one star because at least our buggy was in a very decent condition.

would not recomend, save your money for a trackday, gokarts or what else. or bring your own vehicle...

We came later in the day and sadly this was the only place with some boards for hire. Price was $10 for the hour. The surcharge for card was a flat $2.50. Thats's a 25% surcharge for one board. Given how most merchants will char about 0.5% to max 1.5%, that is an insane mark-up. They only tell you this just before you tap your card, no signs at all about the surcharge. Talk about deception...

Anyway, make sure you check the boards for a nice clean flat surface under. Most of them are badly scratched so your speed going down the hills will...
