Online booking - 1st photo of kitchen online showed upright stove/oven we arrive to find a griller/stove top and conventional oven/microwave
Micro wave/conventional oven was provided - no instructions in folder provided - had to seek from maintenance man
(For personal reasons we do not cook or own a microwave at home hence why we wanted an upright stove)
It appeared pictures of berth 4 is what we received in our cabin rather the berth 6 - seems like the 2nd bedroom was replaced with bunks and turned into a berth 6 when was originally a berth 4
Very Poor internet throughout stay
No ceiling fan in room as per website room feature details - it was that hot in the bedrooms that we had to purchase 2 fans so we could get sleep
No shade sail over the jumping pillow & playground area- was in full Sun How were kids supposed to enjoy these facilities?
Pool was still under construction - although we received an email to advise it was not complete we would have thought some sort of discount or vouchers would have been provided for the local swimming pool centre - as the park did receive the FULL amount of accomodation fees which included an on-site pool
Poor kids activities compared to other Big 4 parks we have visited
Tennis court asphalt was in poor condition - many cracks and tree root bumps which were a trip hazard
No real great VIP perks with membership at this park
Main bed caster broken & we Couldn’t close the bedroom door unless bed moved to a side
Bunk mattress was sagging in centre and had a spring popping out into our childs back - had to call in maintenance man to swap bunk mattresses. When it was brought to manager attention - the reply was - well we fixed it! Not the point though- the bed mattress should not have been in unit in that condition to cause harm to a guest
Spoke to the manager of park to request some sort of compensation for our 6night stay - brought up 1st point and discussed it When the next point of disappointment was mentioned, she told me she felt I was making up excuses in order to get some sort of compensation
In the end the manager told me that she would call the park owners and come back to me When she did come back to us we were compensated a minimal monetary amount
All in all there was very little compromise or discount & we left the park disappointed and...
Read moreMy family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at BIG4 Blue Lake Holiday Park in Mount Gambier, and our experience in the Lakeside Villa was nothing short of exceptional.
The Lakeside Villa, our chosen accommodation, was a true luxury haven. The two bedrooms were beautifully appointed, with the main bedroom boasting a comfortable queen-size bed and a stunning designer ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom, equipped with a queen-size bed and a set of single bunks, made it an ideal retreat for a couple with children. The presence of a second bathroom, a well-designed kitchen, and a spacious living area added to the overall comfort and convenience.
The staff at BIG4 Blue Lake Holiday Park deserve special commendation for their outstanding service. Their warmth, friendliness, and eagerness to assist made our stay truly memorable. They were always ready to provide helpful recommendations and ensured that we felt welcomed throughout our time at the park.
The location of the holiday park couldn't have been more perfect. Nestled in the heart of Mount Gambier, it offered easy access to the town's attractions. However, what truly stole the show was the proximity to the Blue Lake. The stunning views of the lake were a constant delight, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop to our stay.
In conclusion, our experience at BIG4 Blue Lake Holiday Park exceeded all expectations. The Lakeside Villa provided a luxurious and comfortable retreat, the staff went above and beyond, the location was ideal, and the views of the Blue Lake were simply breathtaking. We highly recommend this holiday park to anyone seeking a perfect blend of luxury, hospitality, and natural beauty.
Thank you, BIG4 Blue Lake Holiday Park, for making our family getaway truly...
Read moreLock up your Stuff!!! This park is a thief’s delight!! A supermarket for them, with zero security or chance of being caught. They wander through Blue Lake freely taking what they choose.
On our first night of a 3 night stay our kids prized possessions, their mountain bikes were stolen from our caravan site. We’d normally lock them up but one of the kids ended up in hospital the first night after an injury on the jumping pillow. Amongst the chaos we didn’t lock up the bikes and found in the morning they were gone.
After speaking to multiple staff the same line was repeated “it won’t be anyone staying here, it will be kids”.
This led me to believe it had happened before which was soon reinforced by the local police after we reported the theft. The local police stated that it had been a regular occurance at Blue Lake for the previous 3 months and they should be doing more to make people aware.
They have no CCTV to speak of except the main gate. The park backs onto a public golf course giving the public free reign to come and go as they please.
As disappointing as all of this was, the reaction of the staff only made it worse with little to no regard or empathy shown. I stopped past on the way out to give them one last chance to respond. Unfortunately It didn’t get any better.
I spent the following 2 nights after the theft, awake from 2-7am to help my kids sleep.
Given how expensive the park is, a great deal more could (and should) be done to ensure guests safety.
Im sure the park will respond as they did in person, with something along the lines of “all parks have thieves” or something similar. We’ve stayed at many parks, free camps, rec reserves etc & have never felt as unsafe and exposed as...
