Hickson Street Lookout is one of those quiet, underrated spots in Newcastle that completely takes you by surprise. Perched above the coastline, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and the surrounding landscape. It’s the perfect place to take a breather, soak in the beauty of nature, and enjoy a bit of peace away from the busier parts of town.
What made my visit extra special was getting the chance to watch a group of paragliders launching from the nearby cliffs. It was absolutely mesmerizing to see them glide through the sky, catching the breeze and floating effortlessly over the waves. It added such a magical, dynamic element to the already stunning view like a live show in the sky.
The lookout itself is well-kept and has a simple charm. Whether you’re there for photography, a relaxing break, or just a scenic moment, it doesn’t disappoint. There’s a calming energy about the place that makes you want to stay a little longer.

There is a requirement to walk between the sub-stations in order to find the pathway. As you walk along, you'll find yourself in (I'm assuming) an ancient coastal forest. I would say that it's a short walk. Soon, you should find an open space covered in astro turf. I suppose a good enough space for a small wedding or a large gathering of picnickers. I should point out that there is a windsock at this location. I believe that it is sometimes used to launch...
