Hickson Street Lookout is one of those quiet, underrated spots in Newcastle that completely takes you by surprise. Perched above the coastline, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and the surrounding landscape. It’s the perfect place to take a breather, soak in the beauty of nature, and enjoy a bit of peace away from the busier parts of town. What made my visit extra special was getting the chance to watch a group of paragliders launching from the nearby cliffs. It was absolutely mesmerizing to see them glide through the sky, catching the breeze and floating effortlessly over the waves. It added such a magical, dynamic element to the already stunning view like a live show in the sky. The lookout itself is well-kept and has a simple charm. Whether you’re there for photography, a relaxing break, or just a scenic moment, it doesn’t disappoint. There’s a calming energy about the place that makes you want to stay a little longer. If you’re in Newcastle and looking for a spot that combines natural beauty with a touch of adventure, Hickson Street Lookout is a must-visit. It’s a hidden treasure that leaves a lasting impression.

I've heard about this place for years. It can be a little bit hard to find. You'll be driving along a dead-end street, which terminates at an elevation over the ocean. A beautiful view is to be had at the east end of the drive. The only clue to the location of the Hickson street lookout is usually an array of cars parked near an electrical sub-station (quite close to the entrance of Hickson Street). Today, there were a couple of tradesman's utility vehicles with surfing gear, a few family stationwagons, and the odd SUV at the location. There is a requirement to walk between the sub-stations in order to find the pathway. As you walk along, you'll find yourself in (I'm assuming) an ancient coastal forest. I would say that it's a short walk. Soon, you should find an open space covered in astro turf. I suppose a good enough space for a small wedding or a large gathering of picnickers. I should point out that there is a windsock at this location. I believe that it is sometimes used to launch...

Always a best place to hangout with friends and family in Newcastle, Australia while watching beautiful scenic view and bluey ocean and sunrise in early morning and sunset in the evening. This place remarks a beautiful hidden gem of newy where most of people from local and nearby areas come to visit this place frequently.
