Ridge Street Takeaway — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

Unfortunately we had TERRIBLE customer service. I've never left a shop feeling so low and angry due to how I was treated. My partner and I got in the car thinking what did we do so wrong to be treated so poorly. Was an awful feeling handing over my money to someone who definitely didn't appreciate our support.The lady serving customers has NO customer service skills what so ever... How she has a job in customer service I have no idea. The man working was so kind to everyone, I feel terrible he has to work along side a cranky lady. We wanted to support a small local business for our once a week takeaway meal during this covid lockdown but unfortunately Mcdonalds would've been a better option... Now this is saying something! As an employer myself, if any of my staff treated our customers the way she did tonight, they WOULD NOT have a job! It doesn't take very much to smile, speak to people politely, with manners and greet them on arrival and to thank them when leaving.

Although the works schnitzel burger and chips were great, the scallops and fish didn't have a great taste to them. Will not be returning here ever again due to the service. There are many other great fish and chip stores around the area that offer 1000000x better service and feel like we are appreciated as...

I walked in with my toddler son and a smile on both of our faces. The lady looked at both of us up and down and mumbled something (yes it was visible) Me : Hey how are you? Lady: yes what you want Me (ignoring her rude behaviour ) : does your special schnitzel burger have any bacon on it? Lady: yes look at menu. Its written right there. (As she started writing chicken schnitzel burger) Me (again ignored as my son was with me): oh so can we have grilled chicken burger please? Lady looked at me, rolled her eyes and mumbled something again and wrote our order. Not a word after that as she took payment and just walked back. 3 more people came, ordered and took their food as we waited. After all other costumers left she handed the food saying "here". I never felt more discriminated As I could not find another reason for her being nice to everyone else but us. I was polite and gentle the whole time and never said a word because I don't want any negative thoughts in my son's mind as he doesn't understand discrimination yet. It's 2021...

Absolutely fantastic fish and chip shop! The chips were seriously some of the best I’ve had – perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The potato cakes (or scallops, depending on where you're from!) were also top-notch, crispy and full of flavour. The burgers were huge and delicious, definitely great value for money. On top of that, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. If I lived nearby, I’d be coming back all the time. Sadly, I’m just visiting from Victoria – but this place will definitely be a must-stop whenever I’m in...
