My wife, 2 kids (aged 2.5 and 4.5) and my mother-in-law initially were staying in Merimbula at Tasman holiday park as the facilities were ideal for our situation for the kids to have a bit of fun.
As we were running a bit behind schedule (Driving from South East Melbourne) we had to arrange for the key to the cabin be left in a letter box. Which the management was helpful with.
Unfortunately, as we arrived and walked in the cabin, we couldn’t last there a whole day as the cabin we booked, which was one of their better cabins (Kalinda Cabin 3BR) was putrid, dusty and the couch we couldn’t even sit on, it was that filthy. The park management was obliging and provided us a full refund the following morning as they agreed that the cabins were not in great condition and not up to scratch. The park was good facilities wise. But comfort in the cabins should be more focused on with that park I believe.
So, we needed to find somewhere for the next 5 nights pretty quickly. Which is when we then came across Discovery Parks - Pambula Beach.
I couldn’t commend the staff at reception enough. They understood our situation with the previous park and the cabin we were able to book was perfect, even on such short notice. It was a 3 bedroom, it was very clean and family appropriate items like the clothes dryer was a great assistance in keeping on top of the laundry.
It was nice after each night to crack open a cold one on the lovely clean COUCH when the kids went down to sleep.
The kids loved the heated pool, seeing all the many kangaroos in the park, on our last day, I had breakfast with one of the kangaroos and her Joey (Big fan of apples). Jumping pillow, little bit of mini golf. They loved riding there bikes around the park, which is well maintained. We went for walks on the beach to the Rockpool a couple of times to show our eldest that the water level isn’t always the same.
We were out and about everyday to explore the surrounding areas which was amazing seeing different wild life like whales, wallabies, starfish, crabs, lizards, the local cafes, breweries, shops etc were great also.
All staff were extremely friendly and I can’t thank the team at Discovery Parks - Pambula Beach enough from what was an awful start and then turned out to be an extremely memorable holiday for my family.
The only thing I can fault is having to make the bunk bed 🤣 though, it was probably the exercise I needed. Worked up a real sweat.
You guys are amazing...
Read moreThe staff were very good and the park is fine. Amenities were dated but clean.
Wifi, although available could not generally be accessed from our site and when we were able to link it was very slow.
However, the reason for the low rating was noise. Quiet time is 10pm and is clearly stated in the park rules. On our first night we had to call the night staff at 11 about excess noise from the group of 20-30 year olds nearby. The night staff did say they would visit them. Whether they did or not is a mute point as the noise went on until midnight. Next day we let the office staff know of the problem.
Second night same issue. At 11.00 when we called the night staff they advised they had other noise complaints and had already visited but would visit again. Sadly, the noise was still there until midnight with caravan and car doors being slammed on purpose well into the night
It was obvious the noisemakers were taking zero notice of the night staff
We met with Park Management the next morning who had already met with the noisy group and assured us it would be OK the third night. They were completely unaware of the first nights problem as staff communication had failed, even tbough we had personally reported it to the office the previous day.
They were not going to turf the noisy ones unless it happenned again. At that point we were offerred and took a full refund and found an alternate (and much quieter) park elsewhere.
The noise was bad enough but after 2 nights running we were disgusted management allowed the noisy...
Read moreMy family have been camping here for over a decade but this year will be my last. The park has increasingly become unmanageable with parties into the early hours of the morning and literally wall to wall bikes, scooters and even electric vehicles everywhere including the footpaths. I was hit in the back by a kid on a bike and nearly collected by another the next day. The noise in the park is such that you can’t hear yourself think, read a book or focus on anything for long. Don’t count on internet either. There is barely reception most days no matter what you use - theirs or mobile. The shop is very overpriced so best to shop in Merimbula or at the Pambula supermarket. The park has all the things but unfortunately at peak season it is a tent city on steroids with park staff who don’t appear to enforce curfews or safety restrictions. The toilets were cleaned at peak times when busy but very dirty. Yes even the women’s toilets. The showers almost always wall to wall sand. Every second van had a leaf blower so that was the sound of your morning coffee. They have planted a large thorny hedge next to the highly trafficked amenities path, which you had to walk around or lose skin. It was finally cut back on our last day but should be removed. I counted the days to go home, exhausted from lack of sleep or rest from chaotic noise. Even my husband who can sleep through almost anything found it over the top. The kids start up early and loud so the curfew is pretty crucial to enjoy...
