This morning my husband, daughter and I went shopping at Cockburn Central. We bought some stuff from Kmart and our trolley was full with the Kmart products. We didn't get bags for our items. Subsequently we went to shop at Big W. We had two items that we carried in our hands separately to show that they were Big W products. At the checkout our register assistant, by the name of Shirlene, served us. She queried after our Kmart products in the trolley. Shirlene asked me where they were from and proceeded to check - whilst she identified one of our Kmart products, Shirlene asked me about the rest. I felt compelled to show her our Kmart receipt as it was pretty clear she thought we were stealing.
It's most unfortunate that at the register I was treated in this manner. We were not stealing obviously as there is security in both stores. I should not have had to provide proof of our innocence; especially given Shirlene had no right to be accusatory and confrontational.
I am sorry to say this is my worst shopping experience at Cockburn and I will not be returning to Big W on principal.
I believe Shirlene should not make rash assumptions - she was extremely rude. I hope that this highlights her unprofessionalism and inadequacy for carrying out her duties at work.

Read moreWere absolutely awful! My daughter aged around 11 and her friend, aged 12 walked in to have a look at some fake nails while I stood around the front waiting for them. As they were just walking out to greet me, they hear this "Hey! Get back here!". Turning around, a fat lady (I presume the manager, or someone important) is standing there with her arms folded. "Look in their bags" she tells to one of the workers. The girls both open there bags while the workers dig through it. "Drop them!" a small asian lady orders. They both drop there bags while the staff check all pockets. "I saw you holding a fake nail kit! Where is it?" She says to my daughter. "I put it down on a random shelf, I didn't want it anymore" They then made her walk about 4 laps around the store, all while I stood outside, not wanting to make even more of a scene, I knew my daughter wouldn't have stolen anything. One of the co-workers eventually found the nails, shooing of my daughter and there friend! Not even apologising for there appalling behaviour! This place also has bad service. I found a product online and said in stock in this store. Went to Service Counter, waited for 5 mins, showed her the product in phone. She only said it is in Balloon session. I said I’ve been there and ask her for further help eg check the number of stock. You have to push her to help you and have to push her to call someone to attend to that session (because there was NO staff in balloon session!)
Then get to the balloon session, also waited for 10 mins. Staff saw the photos, quickly get you something DIFFERENTLY. When I told her I’d it different, she showed a long face and said who told you we have this? I’ve never seen it? Again, you have to push her to help you and she walked around and found the product in her session (but in a package that she wouldn’t expect)
