Let me tell you about a potato scallop that literally stopped me in my tracks.

I was driving down the road when the heavenly aroma hit me through the open window - that unmistakable scent of perfectly fried batter. I found myself pulling over before my brain even registered what was happening.

What I discovered was potato scallop perfection. This isn't just another roadside snack - it's a golden masterpiece that demands attention. The moment you see it, you understand why people talk about these in hushed, reverent tones.

Each scallop is a thing of beauty - impossibly crisp on the outside with that perfect amber hue that screams "I was made with care." One bite reveals the contrasting pillowy potato inside, perfectly seasoned and clearly made from scratch. You can taste the difference when everything's made in-house like this.

These aren't your average potato scallops - they're giants that command respect, served piping hot and absolutely worth every cent. The fish and chips are equally spectacular - fresh, flaky and clearly sourced with pride.

I've traveled across Australia sampling what each state has to offer, but these scallops (or cakes, depending on where you're from) have ruined me for all others.

This was our first stop in Swansea and the experience didn't give us a great first impression. First off, the shop got various of our order incorrect, with missing elements to the set . For example, tartare sauce was missing from our box, when we asked about it, they said we had to pay for it when on the menu it was included. Another example was the missing fish cocktails from our meal. Instead of taking our box back, they simply and rudely used tongs to pick up the fish cocktail and shoved it out the window without pushing apart the blinds. In a time where hygiene is extremely important, I found this to be very rude and ignorant. We didn't get an apology and the young lady serving us was just rude. I also witnessed them serving someone else our extra order, after they sat down and started eating, the server asked for the food back to take out the extra order then add it to our box. The food itself was not great. I would not recommend coming to this...

Ordered fish cocktails, calamari, prawn cutlets and chips for lunch. The seafood was amazing, beautifully fresh crumbed and battered and piping hot. The chips not so much, they appeared to be sitting for a bit and not so fresh, though they still were quite tasty. Some lemon would have also been a welcomed addition.
