And we’re back in the water for another season of hunting down great swimming spots, kicking off with this beauty. Bilgola means swirling waters, and the waves crashing over the sides of this 1960s concrete rockpool illustrate this well. They create a great swim spa effect at the western end, who needs fancy technology!
Nestled under the cliff face at the southern end of Bilgola Beach, it’s quite beautiful, with 8 unmarked 50 metre lanes and an extra wading section making for an unusual shape. The pool is positioned parallel to where the surfers are catching their waves, creating endless entertainment watching great rides and wipeouts alike.
Best to get here early as the limited (and expensive) car parking was almost full when we arrived at 10am. Read moreThis rockpool is awesome, even more so when it's clean!! Big enough for laps. The larger half is quite deep receipt for the sea end, the smaller half is ok for kids. Concrete structured floor I think, but I was in the deeper pool the whole time, so I didn't really feel or see the ground much anyway!
