I never understood why this place is so popular. Maybe itās because of the specials, which are hardly worth it considering the quality of produce thatās available. For example, I tried to purchase tomatoes and capsicum that were on special, however most of them appeared to be wrinkled, wet, discoloured and/or mouldy. I guess itās been raining and theyāve all been left outside, however produce shouldnāt be sold in that condition no matter if theyāre on special or not.
The staff seem mostly friendly however most of them seem to have no idea what specials are available. Half of the specials that are shown on Facebook are either different or donāt exist in the store; if theyāre even labelled correctly at all.
The layout of the produce section is unbearably tight to the point where my trolley barely fits through. Speaking of trollies, most of the trollies appear to be old and dirty. Of course itās not really the storeās fault if customers choose to leave rubbish in them, however maybe more bins should be added so that customers are more incentivised to throw their rubbish away instead of leaving them in the trollies that clearly never get cleaned.
The normal shelf prices for items not on special is way more expensive than say Coles and Woolies. So I wouldnāt recommend buying them unless you are really really desperate.
And of course this isnāt the fault of the store yet the whole shopping complex for that matter, but boy is the car park is awful. The ground adjacent to the IGA is angled so itās a bit of a struggle walking with a full trolley towards the Mitre 10 side of the car park. And the amount of pot holes in that car park on that side is atrocious.
This is not a good store at all and if you have access to a car, I suggest you travel out to Carnes Hill or Leppington...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to the west hoxton iga store, the two deli girls were so incompetent and rude. Mona serving a lady before me, she called serina for assistance, serina point blank said she was not cutting, Mona continued serving. Mona obviously in training was extremely slow, I questioned serina as to why she would not assist, she said all of the machines were sterilised and only one machine was operational, it was 415pm! The store closes at 630pm. She then proceeded to pull apart the machine next to Mona, which was yet to be sterilised.. several people behind us stood waiting, though eventually gave up and left. Their attitudes were terrible. When I asked Mona her name, she abruptly asked me why? Serina freely gave her name, with a carefree attitude. As I walked away, I could hear the girls sniggering, I turned back and they were laughing and pointing. The service has taken a downward spiral since previous staff, enza especially. Management at west hoxton iga, do yourself a favour, check your staff, they are beyond bad. When I got home, my cold meats looked like they'd been hacked by a chain saw, a 10 yr old could have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at IGA West Hoxton. On Thursday, 11 Sept, I purchased groceries including two packets of Tom Yum soup. By Saturday I realised they were already expired when I bought them, and when I returned on Sunday, I found the remaining packets on the shelf were also expired.
When I asked for an exchange, the supervisor kept insisting it was āpolicyā not to refund or swap without a receipt, even though expired stock had been sold. I even offered the date, time, and amount of the transaction from my phone, but he refused to even check the docket system. Instead, he repeated it was āpolicyā and compared it to other stores, which was incorrect.
Sadly, this isnāt my first issue here. In the past, Iāve been charged more than the shelf ticket price, had expired juice sold, and even had items put through at checkout after I specifically asked not to buy them. While some staff are very helpful, overall Iāve had far more negative than positive experiences here.
Selling expired food and refusing to take accountability is unacceptable, and itās no wonder customers are...
