Tarkine Fresh Oysters — Local services in Tasmania

Great oysters. Bit disappointed in the response as I purchased 6 dozen unshucked oysters when I asked if it was possible to get a sample, as I don't have my shucking knife with me. I was told we don't give out samples. For good sake. I just spent $85 there. One oyster as a sample would not kill you. Even if you suggested that I can buy a single oyster that you can freshly unshuck for me out the back for $1.

A. Asking for a sample does not nesassaraly mean I want one for free. B. I'm not just walking in the door and asking for a sample without purchasing anything. C. A free sample in any case when I've made a reasonable size purchase would make this review awesome instead of bad.

Anyway. Got home to my shucking knife. Tarkine Oysters are delicious to say the least. Can't wait to eat more than the sample I had once I got home today. Kilpatrick and a la natural the oyster...

Extremely disappointed with the service from this place. Both two tables (only two tables available to sit down in store) were being used, as one table was about to leave I asked the worker if we could take that table once they left and was told no because a it had been reserved, to which we understood and said we were happy with take away. The next couple who ordered were then seated at this table, to find out they were not the people with the reservation. I approached the worker to say we were told we could not sit, to which she said “they won’t be long”. It’s so disappointing to see that there are still places in this world with such disrespect! We would have gladly sat and been just as quick as that couple. I will definitely not be recommending this place to anyone...

A hidden gem for oyster lovers! Don’t be put off by the simple appearance outside or inside — what truly matters here is the incredible freshness and flavour of the oysters! We tried both the cooked and raw oyster platters, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The oysters were beautifully fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of taste.
