Nice things first: * It's close to the beach with great access points throughout the campsites. * It's close to town and the main shops * Pet friendly * Power and water available for campers * Check in was easy and the lady was friendly. * Nice gardens and grass * Concrete area for campsites, cars parked on road with plenty of room to move around still. Less nice: * No laundry * Rusted things in bathroom * Not all bathroom lights worked * Only one shower worked in the ladies. Two showers were locked. Of the two showers available, one didn't have a real showerhead and it did not have hot water. The one shower with a showerhead needed a good clean, it was green, and the light above it doesn't work. When I showered the water didn't go down the drain either, just sat pooled at my feet. * Toilets didn't all have lids * Lights are rusted, some dont work and there's bugs in the covers. * No paper towels in the mens bathroom If I'm paying $20 per adult (so $40 per night), I'd expect all toilets to have lids, bathroom lights to be clean, showers that work, the ability to dry my hands after I wash them and the option to wash my clothes in a coin operated laundry on site. I didn't find the amenities we were provided justify the cost we paid to stay here.

NOT TO BE MISSED! Do yourself a favour and spend time here. $40 a night for solo. They win points for a solo discount alone!! Very friendly and helpful managers/owners. Everything spotlessly clean!! And as for the effort they've put in for homeliness...I'm speechless. I've never seen anything like it in all my stays in caravan parks! I hope I see more CP adopting these ideas. Concrete sites leaving grassed area to sit on and enjoy. Feel that grass beneath your bare feet! Great pressure in the showers. Shower is to die for! Very clean! Large toilet cubicles. AND THEN THERE IS THE KITCHEN AND LOUNGE!! You have to see it! A pathway separates you from the beach. There is a BBQ area with an open log fireplace, sink x 2 and picnic table and benches. Seriously I've never seen anything remotely as good as this place. People complain that there is no water at your site but there is the opportunity to fill your tank etc at reception. That is not a valid complaint people!

Massive shoutout to the Wynyard Beach Retreat Tourist Park’s Cheryl & Graeme who accommodated my family after our motorhome lost power on the Bass Highway. Cheryl waited up for us after hours, helped unload our taxi, provided boxes for our gear, helped move us in for the night & gave us a late checkout until our replacement vehicle arrived this afternoon. Rooms were just what we needed neat, warm, comfortable & very clean. If your lap takes you this way make sure you book a night. I am sure the friendly face of Cheryl will be there to welcome you. Thank you for being a good human and great operator.

On arrival, we found the Reception office, and obeyed the signs to turn off our vehicle. No idling allowed.||Reception was unattended, so we obeyed the sign to "Ring the bell once only, then sit and wait patiently"||The next lot of guests arrived in a motor-home, and were immediately asked to move it, as they had (inadvertently) "run over some plants".||The park is run by a husband and wife team. The wife was welcoming and very helpful. The unit was clean and tidy, the bed comfortable. ||We were enjoying a late afternoon coffee on the balcony of our unit, when our enjoyment was spoiled by a LOUD tirade of abuse, coming from the Reception office. The husband could clearly be seen, and heard, abusing someone - shouting and waving his arms aggressively. We can only hope he wasn't being that aggressive toward a guest.||We found this quite unpleasant, and we would probably choose other accommodation, next time we...
