Most expensive Thai take away I have ever had!!!! Complete rip off. Take away for 2 people costing $109 for 3 small containers and 2 entre items. Absolutely ridiculous and criminal. Went back and went through the menu after thinking it was a mistake. Even the lady serving me at the counter agreed with me menu pricing was hard to follow. Extremely deceptive and extremely expensive for a small seaside town. Food was not to rave about and neither good or bad and I was trying to find the hidden gold nuggets when eating it to justify the exorbitant overbearing cost. Even if I was ever to visit Wynyard again I would go to the Chinese food restaurant across the road which was 2/3 the cost and much more food. I would expect that level of pricing in ritzy restaurant in Sydney but not Wynyard. Taking advantage of tourists like you did, you should be ashamed.
Response shows what an obnoxious small minded owner you are. Sure you will say nasty things to defend your honour but the truth is simply over priced for food received. Look at the other reviews saying same. Saying food prices have gone up is obvious but not that much to justify cost and it has nothing to do with clients liking your food. Just to add I got the same items in a smaller town in Tassie for $64. So if they are more isolated why can they still charge way less? Maybe better supplier or just more reasonably priced. Obviously you need to change supliers. As for education be careful about you assumptions. I have been in the industry for 40 years and own 5 successful restaurants so be careful who needs to educate who! Merry Xmas to you also from the...
Read moreI hope you’re doing well. I recently traveled from Melbourne to Wynyard for work, and during my stay, I had the pleasure of dining at Rusty Iron. One of my business friends is a huge fan of Thai cuisine, so when I searched for nearby Thai restaurants, yours stood out as the perfect choice.
From the moment we stepped in, we were impressed by the warm atmosphere and, most importantly, the exceptional quality of the food. Every dish was cooked to perfection full of flavor, beautifully presented, and truly “over the moon” delicious. It’s rare to find such authenticity, and I must say, your chef’s skills are remarkable. The dedication and hard work that go into each dish were evident, and it made our experience truly memorable.
Interestingly, that same evening, my friend and I finalized an important business project here in Wynyard. I can’t help but believe that the amazing food at Rusty Iron played a role in our success. It felt like a lucky charm!
I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the effort and passion behind your restaurant’s food, especially the chef’s outstanding work. It’s not just a meal it’s an experience, and I will definitely be recommending Rusty Iron to others.
Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Read moreCame here maybe 6 months ago and it was outstanding. This time around it was disgusting. The lemon chicken had a really strange flavour and texture, definately not fresh pieces of battered chicken thigh like it was last time. The beef massaman was almost wholly potatoes with about 4 pieces of beef that were tough, impossible to cut with the butter knife provided and cold and dry in the middle. There was an off taste to one of the pieces of beef and so we left the rest due to fear of food poisoning. The service staff were training new employees which is fine except the people training them didnt seem to know what was going on either. The coconut rice was nice. $100 out of pocket for a few mouthfuls of food that was basically inedible. We were also disappointed to find that the beautiful Thai stir fry's that used to be on the menu have been removed and replaced with Australian food. Not much on the menu to share any more and no bowls or serving spoons were provided to assist with sharing. We wont...
