Het kanaal Dessel- Turnhout - Schoten verbindt het kanaal Bocholt- Herentals met het Albertkanaal in Schoten. De totale lengte bedraagt ongeveer 63 km en deze verbinding werd gerealiseerd in 1875. Het hoogteverschil tussen Dessel en Schoten bedraagt 25,70 m. en aangezien er zich 10 sluiscomplexen op het totaaltraject bevinden is het totaal te overwinnen hoogteverschil 2,5 m per sluis. Buiten deze sluiscomplexen biedt dit mooie kanaal een variëteit aan ontspanning voor fietsers en wandelaars via het jaagpad. Tafeltjes en rustbanken zijn ter beschikking om even te verpozen....
