Mijn Plek — Restaurant in Schoten

We’re not picky eaters and we’re easy-going clients however I’ll have to comment on this experience. We came at 11h to break our fast. Ordered homemade grapefruit/mint lemonade, ginger tea the shakshuka with goat cheese and a salmon avocado toast. I’ll start with the homemade lemonade - it’s supposed to have been made with grapefruit and mint however I got a pink drink with half slice of grapefruit and some mint leaves AS decoration. The drink tasted anything BUT grapefruit/mint. Shakshuka could have been nice if the dish would have been actually cooked and seasoned just like a shakshuka is supposed to be, but the canned tomato purée was undercooked and overtook the other flavours. I love goat cheese and unfortunately i didn’t taste the flavour of the goat cheese due to the dish being unseasoned and tomato paste killing everything else. My partner’s toast with salmon and avocado wasn’t seasoned and upon request of seasoning we received a small cup with salt and pepper sachets. I’ve taken some time to go through the pictures posted here which all look amazing and to my surprise in other pictures the homemade lemonade is actually seasoned with extras and the salmon avocado toast is seasoned as well and topped with sesame seeds and so on, where our food was just…plain. Cherry on top my partner (Dutch speaking native) ordered a slice of cake and we’ve got two on one plate (and paid for two). The ginger tea was nice, the atmosphere relaxed. This cozy spot quickly became a place I would recommend. I ordered the avocado toast, chocolate cake, and a flat white, and each item was delicious.
