On a day when the weather was being unpredictable we headed to Lake Minnewanka with our 3 year old. The sun broke through the clouds so we decided to book a cruise and walk about for a couple hours before it docked. We grabbed some food from the Cafe spot, everything was really tasty and the young man working gave great service. We spotted a fox while waiting, exciting for our toddler to see. When we loaded onto the boat it was great to see that they had social distancing measures in place. The three of us sat in the first seated row together. Our tour guide was Melissa, and she was fantastic! Sitting in the front really made the experience for us. Melissa made the tour educational in the best way, the way that keeps you engaged and excited to keep learning. She was amazing at story telling. The view of the mountains and lake was beautiful too, we really lucked out with the weather. I would have opted not to go had it been overcast or rainy, as the beautiful clear coloured water is what I love the most about the lake. On our tour we had the opportunity to stop the boat and turn the engines off, to experience the water and peace for a moment. That was awesome. I would definitely recommend this tour for those that like to learn about history along with stunning views. This is not a quiet, relaxing type of “cruise”. We learned so much and talked about it for hours after. I plan to take my daughter again....
Read moreWe had such a wonderful experience on the Lake Minnewanka boat tour! Kenji, our tour guide, and Captain Liam were both fantastic—knowledgeable, kind, and attentive to guests. We joined the last tour of the day at 6:00 pm, just as the sun was beginning to set. The scenery was breathtaking with golden leaves signaling the start of fall. One of my favorite moments was when everyone shared a quiet pause, appreciating the serenity of the lake. It was peaceful and almost spiritual, making me feel connected to the history and spirits of the place. Kenji’s stories added so much depth, giving us insight into how Indigenous people once lived around the lake.
I gave 4 stars instead of 5 due to some inconsistency in communication about pets. The website mentioned it was up to the captain’s discretion, so we called ahead to ask about bringing our small dog. Unfortunately, the person on the phone firmly said no dogs were allowed. But on the day of our visit, we asked again at the front desk and were told it was absolutely fine. Captain Liam himself warmly welcomed dogs of all sizes onboard. We’re always searching for activities where our fur baby can join, and this turned out to be a perfect experience.
Overall, this tour is a must-do if you’re in Banff—especially if you can catch the last...
Read moreThe Lake Minnewanka is try majestic and this cruise will take you across the lake. Its not a sea boat quite safe that takes you on a guided tour of lake Minnewanka there will be two crews on board one drives and other talks about history, dimension, facts and more. We had a guy named Liam who was great he was very prompt with my daughters questions and very polite. The view from the cruise were amazing there was a view deck at the back of the boat and it was nice and shaded with amazing view. No washroom on board. 1 hour tour. I will say its quite expensive but worth once. Ample parking but on a weekend its hard to find parking so reach and hour early atleast to not miss your booking. Park and ride is also available. Booking tickets ahead of time highly recommended as you wont find on the spot tickets. There is a boat rental beside the cruise in case if you want to do that. The piere is well built safe and with lots of info and flowers on it. Ample washroom near parking lot. Over all totally worth it. Check out videos and images &...
