CRAZY PRICES TERRIBLE BOATS
We rented a Row Boat for the full day. It was sunny and not windy but despite of this it was impossible to drive the boat straight considering that they gave us two rows of different lengths and weights. We didn't receive any type of instruction on how to properly ride the boat and when we asked for explanations we were treated with no respect. We were said that it was our problem if we weren't able to properly ride their boat (which was old, noisy and dirty). We paid 210$ for a non functioning old boat. There is other rentals on the same lake, they are very likely to be a better option.
Read moreMaligne lake is my favourite spot in the Rockies. I have been coming here since a child. My husband and I came here for a little getaway right after our wedding 10 years ago and have been back with our eldest son. This was our first time back as a family of four we have our six year old and 3 year old who are little and we were refused a canoe. Yes it does state this on the website but we are avid canoers and no where in Alberta including Banff Canoe Club, Minnewake or Lake Louise and a variety of spot sun Ontario where we live have we ever been denied a canoe with two small kids. This was meant to be the highlight of our jasper getaway and it was beyond disappointing. Staff did not care or provide any explanation for why two little kids could not go which in our case meant no one could go as we had no Childcare with us and I’m not a strong enough canoer to go out on my own with one of my kids. Just horrible. Sounds like a...
Read moreThis was unfortunately not a great experience at the boathouse. It’s operated by two Australians who were polite but quite firm on their policies. I asked if I could bring my dog (a golden retriever) with me, but they said no. I also suggested using a kid-sized life jacket for him, but that was also denied.
While I understand that safety regulations may vary, I found this policy a bit disappointing — especially considering that golden retrievers are excellent swimmers and are often trained to retrieve in water. I believe a more flexible or case-by-case approach could make the experience more inclusive for responsible dog owners.
That said, I respect their right to run their business the way they see fit, but I do hope they reconsider their policy...
