Words cannot express how disappointing lunch was today. We only came here as it was included in the package deal with the Maligne Lake Cruise. In the original booking, it shows the full course entrees, and allowed us to pick any of the options, but in person there were only three. We ordered the Steelhead Trout and the Chicken with one of each dessert. For a restaurant that proclaims they have a "gourmet menu", and local ingredients, and with the price point that it is, I expect the food to at least taste good. This was not the case. With several failed culinary techniques; not seasoning the food, potatoes on the verge of being raw, plating, inconsistent cooking, along with the service. I certainly and highly recommend people to avoid this touris trap. Sarah (Manager), understood the frustration and took the proper steps by upgrading our meals and offering on the house dips and chips during the wait. Once again, the food was a disappointment. Moving onto the second course, the radicchio was cut into a 1/4 and just left whole and dirty (inside had dirt still), proteins were bland AGAIN, food was cold. We waited a total of 1.5hrs (including dessert) and all of it was extremely horrible. The desserts alone looks like a child created it, and I come from a fine dining background (which we would not serve). Steve, the GM, seems to struggle with our frustration and felt as if he did above and beyond service to make our experience better when he absolutely did not and actually made it even worse. There were many more issues to go along with our dining experience, but to wait 1.5hr in addition to 1hr and 45mins (cruise), and to eat nothing because the food was disgusting and leaving starving and unsatisfied, this shows a lot of volume of how they run a business. Please spend your money elsewhere or pack a picnic to enjoy...

As we arrived we asked the manager, Sean, if there were any spots available and he replied saying we should set a specific time, over an hour from then. We then asked if there was anything immediately available (half the tables were vacant) and he reluctantly led us to the lower level patio which they clearly did not want to serve. Once we sat down, a waitress left us with the menu and water. We let her know we were debating grabbing something to-go from the restaurant’s cafe, which she said was fine. After reviewing the menu, which had nothing appealing to either of us, we let the waitress know we were going to go with the takeout option. She then rudely said “okay” and aggressively threw the water into the nearby bush. On the way into the restaurant the manager asked what we were doing and said we should have reviewed the menu beforehand (which was not laid out anywhere nor offered to us beforehand). After grabbing takeout I went to ask one of the other waitresses for the name of the manager and waitress... the manager then stormed out of the restaurant and said “can I help you, man?”.
This was our last day in Jasper and a good part of it was ruined by this experience. There are limited options nearby, but I would strongly encourage everyone who visits Maligne Lake to go elsewhere beforehand or afterwards. Every other restaurant we visited during our trip to Alberta was amazing, so definitely lots of...
Read moreI had a good experience today at The View. I went for a very long hike and was looking for something to eat; The View was the only place there was. I ordered a poutine (since i'm from Montreal haha) and a chicken cesar salad.
The food was good, but the portions and prices were really not it. The poutine was $12 which iis reasonable, but the chicken cesar salad was $17. For both these meals, the portions were very small.
The atmosphere was great. Lots of place to sit inside AND outside. The service was also okay. The girl at the cash register today (monday june 10 at 2pm) was very kind and was definitely the nicest employee i spoke to at The View. She is doing a very good job and i hope she knows.
My experience was overall very good and i...
