A nicely designed wooden hut right on the shore of Maligne Lake that serves sweet and savory waffles, ice cream, coffee and drinks. We experienced a few ups and downs: The savory waffle we ordered (Curly Phillips with smoked salmon, arugula, pickled onion, lemon and horseradish aioli) was delicious and was freshly baked after we ordered, but not exactly cheap (16 CND). Although the service was friendly, there was a queue because the screen with the menu changed pages too quickly, so it took longer to read the different options. Although we visited during peak summer season, the staff made an effort to serve all customers quickly. All in all, a nice place to rest after a hike, soak up the sun and enjoy a delicious waffle on the shore of beautiful Maligne Lake.

We visited on May 18th, the Sunday of the long weekend. The other two cafes were closed (too early in the season?) The Waffle Hut was perfect for us though. We had 1 of the savoury waffles and 2 of the sweet. All were delicious and the coffee was great too. Not sure how they'll manage in the busy season. It was a quiet day and even so, it took a long time to get through the short line. During that time we witnessed a couple of different orders being messed up - an Opal Hills (Strawberries & Nutella) substituted in for an Alpine (Bruschetta & Prociutto)? Everyone seemed happy enough to wait for the staff to figure things out though, and hopefully they'll get the edges smoothed before peak season begins.

Had the Unwin (waffle, egg patty, bacon, maple syrup)... really blew my mind with how unbelievably tasty it was. This was hands down the best-cooked waffle I had ever tasted in my life - perfectly buttered with that light crisp on the outside, but with a soft cooked cakey inside... When i bit down on it, getting a bite with everything in it, the savory and sweet juices of heaven exploded in my mouth immediately. The affogato was also super tasty! Ice cream was the perfect texture for what they did... these people really know what they are doing... highly recommended for a foodgasm before/after the Maligne Lake Cruise tour to Spirit Island!
