We live in this community and have on too many occasions been turned away from the swimming pool due to either no staff or the most restricted public access to a pool we've ever seen. Who on earth is operating this schedule? There is 1 public swim that we can attend during the day on a weekend and it's an hour long.....on a whole weekend. We have two young children between 1 and 4 so can only use the shallow pool as it also needs to be warm. We were exited when the facility was being built but the hours that you can use the pool are so limited that if the stars don't align it makes it almost impossible to get access over a weekend. If the council's concerns about building pools are the expense of running them then perhaps you should have them OPEN!!!. Today we arrived, the pool was closed but they are advertising an adaptive session which our family have used before. This is the description on the website..... A shallow water, sensory-aware swim for individuals and their family who benefit from a quiet swimming environment. All participants must be accompanied by their own parent or caregiver. All ages welcome, admission standards apply. The pool was empty, lights are off so we asked to use the pool. We were told we couldn't. We asked if they had lifeguards on duty. They said yes. We asked can we use the pool. They said no. We said why, If no one is there and it's closed because no one has turned up to utilize the session then let our family use the pool, we've accessed this session before, there are lifeguards who are now just sitting around doing nothing we assume who are being paid? They said no. And here we are, the issue with city run facilities and it's staff. No creativity and an unwillingness to help the community in situations that should be quite simple to adapt to. The reality is no one really wants to do the work. At least 4 staff standing behind a desk with an empty pool and lifeguards sitting around because the session that is advertised didn't bring anyone in that they felt fitted the criteria.....what on earth is going on? Local community comes in happy to spend money and use the recreational facility designed and built for the community, staff and pool are there. Sorry.....computer says no!!!!!! What a waste of our time and money. We checked the website again and it says the whole facility and pool is open all day....erm....no....it's not....that's a lie. It's a lovely facility but what a huge disappointment this facility has actually...
Read moreLarge community Centre, there’s only one point of entry/exit for cars. The parking lot was fairly large. I saw some EV charging stations as well.
The space features a pool, gym, small public library, shared communal party space.
I visited the gym so this review is only based on that. It is $10/day entry that does not include swimming. They offer monthly & yearly passes for the recreational & fitness usage.
Once inside, you do have to go through the gym to get to the changing rooms. There is a universals change room but also a female only. The change room was large, a handful of large lockers, an accessible private shower available along with several shower stalls. The tap is timed so you have to keep pushing while showering.
The gym itself was a bit small, all of the equipment is spaced very closely together. Good selection of machines available, lots of picture instructions all of the wall. The cardio section has a variety of equipment from treadmills, to bicycles to steppers etc. The wall also features tv to keep you entertained.
The yoga, hitt room is very large, large ceiling to floor mirrors, lots of colour coordinated weights, ropes and all sort of equipment for you to use.
Overall, depending on when you visit, it could be congested but I spent a an hour and half and only had to wait a short time...

Date: Saturday, 13 September 2025
I'm extremely disappointed with the IELTS General Training exam experience at 225 Southfields community centre. Despite the exam itself being conducted smoothly in terms of the test format (listening, reading, and writing over three hours), the overall environment and supervision fell short of expectations.
The supervisor, a gentleman wearing a turban, was notably rude throughout the exam. His demeanor created unnecessary stress for test-takers.
The physical conditions were also subpar. The desks were of poor quality, and only one pen was provided per candidate, which could have been a significant issue if the pen had failed during the exam. Additionally, the lack of storage for bags added to the inconvenience.
Given these issues, I would strongly advise potential candidates to consider alternative test locations. Improving the test environment and staff behavior could significantly enhance the...
