I am by far NO expert when it comes to making scones so please when reading this message understand that I am only commenting because I have noticed a pattern and I fear it will only get worse if kept quiet.(which I hope it doesn’t). Butter and Cup has been phenomenal. my family and I have never liked scones until we tried them here. Personal favourites being maple toffee, choc. peanut butter, strawberry shortcake (plz bring it back) and the most recent best of best cherry lime and coconut lime. These two latest additions (the lime family) were absolutely AMAZING when first showcased. Delicious, savoury… the best! Recently we have come in on a variety of days no cherry lime and rarely coconut lime. Then the last two times I’ve visited the c. Lime had lost its spunk! They went from thin wide with sprinkles coconut on top with the perfect taste of lime inside to thick, dry, round, all dough with zero taste. And it was early morning so it’s not like I went when the place was closing and it was the last batch. Store owner I’ve been in when you personally introduced it to me and I’m telling you they are nothing like you once prepared. Those who are trying it now for the first time are not getting the true taste of what it was like so if you’ve had them recently you won’t know any better. From a month ago to now polar opposite.i have noticed that staff has changed : several new faces and I haven’t seen the owner in awhile so perhaps this is the reason. My suggestion, don’t let this pattern continue because like all businesses, when you change something that Works, there is no good at the end. This place overall is great. Great atmosphere, love the decor and feel Of being in a quaint cafe. Will always return to pick up a scone. Being a regular allows people like me to pick up on differences and changes. As for the service, someone earlier mentioned the rudeness of staff. I personally have not been treated badly but I can see how it may come across as poor service by some of the workers who role their eyes when they think no one is paying attention. Owner, be careful of this as it is happening when you are not there. Everything is peachy when the boss is around. I was debating to send this review but the owner is so sweet and kind and I’d hate to see her hard work in rebuilding this place go to waste because of others. I hope my next visit will...
Read moreI’m not sure if the owners have changed but the quality of the food has gone down so much. I purchased 2 bakery items and one was honestly inedible (peach eclair) I took one bite and left it and later my husband came home took a bite and asked me if it had gone bad. I walked in and 2 ladies had come in after me but they were greeted with a warm hello but I was not. I also wanted to purchase some scones however they had none in the display and mentioned they wouldn’t be making anymore for that day. I remember last year and years prior where they always had fresh items being baked and scones in stock and this time it was all new items in the display that don’t look like they got made fresh but we’re bought. The pricing is also insane! I spent $11 on 2 bakery items of which one went straight to the garbage and the other was probably a 2/5. Not worth the hype at all anymore. Good to take some pictures and that’s about it. Even the atmosphere is not the same. Ladies behind the counter didn’t even know what the bakery items were when asking and were questioning each other with uncertainty and were having trouble with punching the items in the register. Sad to see this place go down the drain. Ps a word of advice, learn to take some criticism. I have read so many of the reviews on here where you are responding back to your customers and instead of trying to win them back, you have an “excuse” or snarky comment for each one. If so many people are complaining about the same things over and over, maybe you need to take a look into those things instead of arguing with them or continuously mentioning how awesome everything and everyone is at your cafe, because clearly there is a lot of room for improvement. I have been to this cafe many times and I have noticed the change and will not ever be returning because of your lack of...
Read moreIt’s a cute cafe but the tables are almost always reserved on the weekends and if you want to secure a spot, they make you spend at least $45 which is ridiculous considering it’s a coffee shop not a restaurant. I wish they were more welcoming to walk in customers instead of forcing customers to spend a certain amount.
Response to owner's response: I initially gave a 2 star but because of the passive aggressive response, you now qualify as a 1 star cafe. First of all, you are not "more" than a cafe, you are a cafe. Literally, by definition and by the products you offer, you are a "cafe". Secondly, if having "rules" means you automatically exclude your regular customers who don't spend a certain amount then you're obviously aiming to run as a exclusive establishment that does not cater to everyday cafe visitors. Thirdly, while you can't "expand" your walls, you can certainly opt for walk in service so your clients don't have to drive all the way only to be turned away because everything is reserved ahead of time. Lastly, I'm aware of other cafes in the Peel region that are more spacious but if your response to customer feedback is directing them to other businesses, then you need more than just market research to carry your business aka adopt some customer-centric policies and practices. A café should be a welcoming space for all, not just those who fit a specific mold or spending threshold. It's disappointing to see such a dismissive attitude toward loyal customers and a lack of willingness to accommodate their needs. Building a successful business isn't just about serving good coffee; it's about fostering a sense of community and making everyone feel valued. You should take this feedback and consider making changes that prioritize inclusivity and customer satisfaction....
