Very very very expensive, in my opinion. In July, it's 70 dollars + taxes, per person to ride to the top (the ride back down is included). This is more expensive than the Eiffel Tower or the CN Tower of Toronto. For more perspective, this is also the price of a Disneyland ticket.
Of course, at the top, it's not just the top. You have access to some of the facilities (bathroom, cafetaria), you can even see Grizzlies for free, and attend little shows (bird shows, lumberjacks, rangers). And, of course, you have the view, which is great.
Still, if you are a couple, this is going to be 140 dollars, and I say it's way too expensive. I have had evenings in fancy restaurants for cheaper than this. For what it is, and considering how hyped it is, I believe that asking for no more than 30 bucks per person would be way more appropriate.
My personal piece of advice would be to use the stairs (the Grouse Grind), but it's not for everyone. I did it once, and it can be fun too. However, you should know that they don't allow you to climb down using the stairs (you would need to pay for a...
Read moreMy wife and I travelled to the top of Grouse mountain today around noon to see the scenery. We learned to ski, at night on this mountain in 1980 and we enjoyed walking around and marveled at the changes. In addition we enjoyed a splendid meal at the Altitudes restaurant sharing a barbecue rib meal paired with an excellent sauvignon blanc wine and finished with a delightful tasting apple crisp and white chocolate cheese cake along with Americano coffee and may I say for a very reasonable price.
Unfortunately my wife left a special black toque on the approach to the gondola lift about 3:15 and we wondered if it might be found. It has a logo stating 'Canada's oldest dinosaur' on the top that we bought on a recent trip to Nova Scotia.
On the way down I engaged the lift attendant, a young lady with explanations of the rock types and geology of the mountain as well as tree species.
All in all, it was a special day as when the sun shines the snow sparkles like jewels at this higher elevation and this sight makes Vancouver a favored...
Read moreAwful experience with this company. Started with a horrible difficulty purchasing download tickets, their website is convoluted and barely functions. When I couldn't get it to work in time, lift operators were not only unhelpful, but dismissive and rude, and I was separated from my friends and left in the cold late at night. I had to hunt around the desolate building before being informed that the only place I could still get a ticket was the restaurante. There I was overcharged for the ticket, and made to feel like a disturbance (I do note that this wasn't the restaurante workers' fault). I eventually got on and down but not after being embarrassed, freezing, exploited, and having me and all of my friends'...
