Was looking forward to our round at Gallaghers. Unfortunately it wasnât worth the money. Our round started with us waiting for the group booked ahead of us to show up for their tee time. We were there available to tee off as the starters frantically tried to track down the party in the time slot before us. Needless to say our round started behind schedule. Once on the course, we were continually held up over the first 6 holes as they were playing from tee boxes that didnât suit their skill level. On hole 7 the players assistant finally showed up. He told us that one of the people in that party was in fact an employee of the course but he did mention pace of play and it should improve. Things got a bit better for the next 3 holes and the round started moving as expected. Until, the bar cart showed up. We sat for no joke 11 minutes on a tee box as the group positioned themselves in striking distance from us while getting their drinks. Once they pulled away, the players assistant showed up again. However, not to talk to the player, but to sit and chat with the bar girl. Just another frustrating hold up to an already frustrating day. The part that made it the worst was on the 16th hole when we encountered the players assistant again. We mentioned that it was pretty ridiculous for a course of this calibre to have taken over five hours to play. His response was, âyeah there is two open holes in front of that group, I asked them to speed up but youâre almost doneâ. This lacklustre attempt at professional interaction was enough to prompt this review. Gallaghers is a nice course that plays as expected, the greens were great, bunkers soft and fairways lush, their attention to the player experience however, needs more care and attention. Honestly, I donât know if I would return to spend the money on a round here. Other courses in the area of this calibre just do it better...
Read moreAs a member at a fellow GolfBC facility it pains me to have to write this.
On Wednesday I brought someone to the course from Alberta. After 9 holes we were 25 min behind pace. On 10 my friend was starting to feel ill as he was not used to the heat. We played 11 and he was visibility worse. I told him it was best we ended there and got a raincheque for the back 9.
We proceeded back to the parking lot where he sat in the truck blasting the AC and I went to chat with the clubhouse about a raincheque.
The lady working the desk seemed baffled that we only played 11 holes as it was 1130, we tee'd off at 833. I advised her that her new Carts were equipped with GPS and would indicate as to the 25 minute delay. Which was not dealt with by the on course Marshall. She took my phone number down and said she would have someone contact me.
I was later text by a member of the clubhouse team " Unfortunately we do not offer rain checks for nine holes based on temperature. Itâs a beautiful day out there and we have a full golf course. I trust you understand."
I'm not sure how the information was unclear as I did not enter the clubhouse asking for a raincheque based on temperature. It was based on the physical state of my golf partner.
I work in the industry and have spoken to other golf professionals and they are in agreement that this is pretty sad.
I have since cancelled an upcoming tee time at gallaghers canyon. We will no longer be supporting the club!
It's a shame. It's a great track otherwise.

Read moreWe have never played your course and were up in Kelowna for a few days on our 19th annual golf tournament. This was our first round and we were approached by Marshal Ken on hole 6. This was the first time he showed up. He didn't say hi, he didn't give us a soft warning....he just stared out laying into us and barked at us. He said you are 20 minutes behind your tee time and needed to speed up or he was going to make us pickup balls and skip a hole.
We played the next two holes in 9 minutes and 10 minutes. I think that is ahead of your pace of play clock. Then Ken confronted us again at tee box and just barked at us. He then just sat in his cart for the next 10 minutes and stalked our group down the fairway. We even asked him to leave us alone as we have made the adjustment and sped up. He did not even say "thanks for speeding up" or any sense of customer service.
This annoyance and lack of customer service was something that is lacking at your golf course.
What was also disappointing is that after the round, I went into clubhouse and talked to "Eli" He interrupted me as I started to explain the situation as he said "Ya Ken told me you guys were super slow and backing up the course" He didn't apologize and was quit frankly smug and rude.
We won't be back to Gallaghers Canyon - Just wanted to share this with you as it seems no one there was concerned about the customers and nor understand...
