I'm not trying to write this review in a spiteful manner, I just want to get my personal experience across to the public.
First and foremost; this establishment doesn't indicate whether some challenges are colourblind friendly or not. I was unfortunately on the butt-end of that realization when we ended up having 3 consecutive puzzles involving colours, including the one to end the entire challenge, to which I was not able to participate in.
The service received by the faculty was good and bad simultaneously. We are usually a pretty rambunctious bunch, and throughout our experience, we were asked kindly to keep down the noise, because we were rowdy and agreeably loud. On numerous occasions we also lowered our masks to breathe easier and they kindly asked us over the intercom to place them properly. We respectfully complied to whatever they asked us to do.
Nearing the end of the challenge, as I was sitting down, unable to participate in the final puzzle, our timer ran out. My friends were struggling in completing the puzzle and I had NO CAPACITY to assist them. A young lady walked in and informed us respectfully that our time was up. One of my friends asked her why it wasn't indicated on the website that there would be many colour-based puzzles and that it should be indicated. The faculty member got aggressively defensive and told us that she didn't have to do so. I totally understand, however the response we received from her was very disrespectful when all we wanted to do was give customer feedback. The employee was snappy and rude towards us when we just wanted to tell her that we were upset that I didn't get to participate as much as I would've liked to for the full price. We didn't ask for a refund or freebies or anything of the sort, just some customer feedback, because although I had fun, it wasn't worth the full price considering I wasn't able to contribute. I've participated in other escape room companies such as A/Maze and Action 500, and I've never had that issue with the heavy colour-themed puzzles before. All in all, the rude responses are why I won't be returning to this establishment. The challenges are cleverly created, and challenging indeed, but I didn't feel respected due to my disability.
I'm not trying to boycott or bring this establish down. Just because I didn't enjoy it doesn't mean that others won't. I just didn't feel respected enough, and was almost repulsed with the excuses that were given when a concern was brought up.
Ask questions when you register in order to avoid any complications. They are friendly people, and I'm sure they would've warned us beforehand had we asked, but make sure you don't bring criticism afterwards because some faculty might...
Read moreWe've done several different escape rooms and here's what we think of Evadez-vous:
Very well decorated place, very friendly staff. We did all 3 rooms at different dates (The president bunker, The asylum and The Interview). Although the sound effects, decor and themes were very interessting in all 3 rooms, the puzzles lacked a sort of logical sequence to them. At times the puzzles were far too hard to figure out in the span of time given and in other times they were far too easy. Also, the puzzles often lacked a reflexion of the given theme (ex. in '''The Interview'', none of the puzzles had anything to do with an interview and the main goal was often ambigious). The staff was however always helpful with unlimited hints. The Asylum was the best of all 3, having very creative puzzles and a multi-room setup.
We will eventually return when new puzzles come around and give it...
Read moreI reserved for 5 students online, and when I came in, and told them my reservation, I was told that the reservation was for 6 people at the normal price. I said sorry, thinking I had made a mistake, and she told me she would still give us the student price. We we're not given the student price (I compared the prices to the ones online) and I verified my reservation with the confirmation email, and I had reserved for 5 students. But that doesnt bother me too much. The thing is, while we we're playing instead of letting us ASK when we need help or a clue, she would give us a clue whenever we took more then 3 minutes of thinking, it was really annoying and took away from the experience, but we we're to shy to say anything. The escape room itself was good, but to easy because of the...
