Tldr- great store, friendly staff, welcoming player community, clean!
As a game store owner i have a pet peeve with windows being covered in posters, or at all, but upon entering quickly noticed they just obscured the view into the sizeable play area.
The store had lots of room to move around, was neatly organized, and felt welcoming with good sight lines; it didnt feel like a trap.
The board game selection was small, but very clearly well thought out, all the best sellers were present, which i prefer over having 100 good games and 1000 not so great ones for the sake of having a "great selection". Almost any game I would suggest to new board game players was present, nicely displayed, and reasonably priced.
I came with the intention of playing in a magic event, but a phone call I couldn't postpone made me quite late for the posted start time. The staff were respectful and let me look around on my phone in peace, and when my call was done I apologized and let them know I came for the event and know I missed the start.
The staff went to the players, and although I was late and they had started already, everyone agreed to make a concession and let me join in, messing up the whole structure. I don't play magic almost ever, and everyone was super patient with me while I read cards that they all had memorized for weeks. There was absolutely no feeling of having walked in to a private group, which is a welcomed change of pace from most game store communities, they tend to be quite clicky.
The bathroom was the cleanest, nicest game store bathroom I'd ever used, they clearly take pride in every aspect of their store.
My only suggestion is to bring in a handful of inexpensive card sleeves; I know they don't sell all that well, and it's more fun to make more money and generally better for customers to just buy good ones, but I couldn't justify buying 20$ sleeves when damaging the cards I drafted would only reduce their value by $5. I 100% would have picked up a pack of gamegenic or ultra pros if they were available ( I might just have missed them)
Fantastic store all in all. The last stop on my coast to coast tour of game stores, and definitely deserves to be in my top 5,...
Read moreThis is a decent gaming store. Well lit, clean, a lot larger than expected with lots of room between the aisles of product. There is a lot of gaming stuff here, board games, CCGs, D&D, and all the accessories and collectibles which come with the gaming hobby. There are no computer gaming products, and no second hand items, and their selection is strongly focused on only the most popular of games, so Pokemon, MtG, and D&D, but no small press alternatives. To be fair, I can't hold this against them. They are a business and carrying inventory, especially high ticket items like board games and card games is too expensive of a business overhead to have tied up in obscure games which could sit on their shelves for months or even years. Most positively, I noticed their staff were engaging, helpful, and friendly without being pushy or elitist, which goes a long way towards encouraging customers to return. Check them out and you'll likely find...
Read moreI’ve bought from this store many times and I unfortunately cannot say that the customer service has been as pleasant as many claim. While yes, a good experience wasn’t solemn, several times now I have been met with rude remarks while trying to buy a product, or an employee jumping to conclusions when a mistake was made with an order, not of my own fault.
I’d say every one out of three times purchasing from this establishment has been a negative experience, and this review is not to stir hate, but to point attention to something that could be improved. The convenience of having a hobby store close to home is nice, but I’m afraid I’m going to be taking my business elsewhere...
