The wife had a big birthday coming up and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do for her. I knew dinner was always going to be a part if the evening but I wanted something bit different. So I was browsing a social media group and came across their ad and it mentioned something called the “Chefs table”. So I contacted Gillian about the details and decided that it would be perfect. All I had to do is let her know my wife’s favourite foods and they would do the rest. She was in constant contact with me to make sure it was going to be the perfect evening. She even made suggestions on other things for the evening. I didn’t have a playlist so her team put together one for our dinner. I choose the 7 course sampler sensation and it was amazing. There was so much food that we didn’t even taste the last course but they packaged it up for us to take home. I cannot thank her and her family enough for making our dining the one my wife will always remember . Just my wife and I in a candle lit dining room, soft music playing in the background enjoying lots of delicious food. I haven’t use their catering service but if the menu they provided us is any indication on the food they would cater I would imagine it’d be great. After trying several caterers we struck gold with Saucy affairs! Gillian and Glenn came over to discuss a wedding rehearsal dinner in our garden and immediately put our minds at rest. They were confident and helpful while listening to our ideas and within minutes a plan was in place.! The evening was absolutely perfect from helping to set up , making sure our rental list was right and filling us with total belief that everything would be wonderful. The food was of course incredible from the appetizers, you have to get the sushi bombs, to the jerk chicken, salmon, whisky steak and mushroom risotto accompanied by mashed potatoes snd really fresh vegetables and salad of the season. Fortunately we left room for the very berry trifle which was a total winner and a perfect way to end the evening. From the minute we met Gillian, Glenn and Ali their wonderful helpful daughter and server we were in full party mode. CATERER: Saucy Affairs. We can’t say enough good things about Kim Everest and her team. We signed up with them after meeting Kim at Woofstock a few years ago and sampling their taco bar. We envisioned a pig roast and Kim helped execute that. Because the venue change, we did have to hire a new pig roast company. We went with PigOut Catering, which uses a U.K.-based, self-enclosed contraption that roasts the pig using propane. It’s moveable using wheels and was a godsend as it met all the red tape that can come with cooking outdoors in the Distillery. Saucy Affairs worked with us to meet our budget and the buffet of tacos, warm buns, salads and slaw were awesome. Her staff, especially Amanda, was AWESOME.
