(BA Program 5 STARS)
As someone who has been attending Tyndale for almost 8 years, I would like to say that my experience has been perfect in every way. Although this is true for my time in the BA program, my adventures, during the MDiv program, have been less than adequate. In the BA program, I witnessed constant professionalism with the Professors, their outlines, as well as how helpful each staff member had been with any issues that occurred. It was a truly positive a uplifting as well as an educational time and I wouldn't change it for the world.
(Seminary MDiv Program 2 STARS)
That being said, the Seminary standard for professionalism has been rather deplorable. More than 60% of my Professors do not have adequate explanations for their assignments, due dates, or percentages for many of their projects. (IE: many assignments had minimal explanation, many had no due dates, some had no percentage worth, and many did not have a marking rubric available). Some of my courses even had improper course timings displayed on their syllabus. Even though the syllabus would say it was in the evening, the course was switched to mornings after courses selections were already made. Furthermore, some of my professors had us do assignments based on material that had not yet be taught in the classroom. One even admitted that he couldn't teach everything we needed due to "time restraints", but we were still expected to complete the assignment with the same level of expectation. Finally, my professors often missed our meetings, which they assigned, because they "forgot". I highly suggest that Tyndale's Seminary standards improve significantly before the damage to their reputation becomes irreversible.
Normally, I wouldn't post such a negative review as these matters have been addressed before last winter semester; however, it has remained a constant problem not only for myself, but my peers in the current summer courses. As my mom said, "an apology only means something if you plan to change your ways". Unless Tyndale Seminary improves it's standard of "excellence", my review will...
Read moreI feel like I need to share my experience, mostly about the management staff and, most importantly, about their communication.
Although Tyndale provides some excellent academic programs and an overall friendly student body, my issue mainly lies in how the staff communicates with one another. My biggest and overall redesign, besides making it look better, of course, is internal communication, which is one of the many areas I think the school needs a redesign. As I attended Tyndale, I realized that many people did not know how to accommodate students, even though they had the necessary experience.
I hoped for a more pleasant experience; however, I repeatedly experienced the same thing where I asked exactly what I needed help with and was sent through hoops and trials to accomplish simple tasks. There appears to be a far more efficient way that could have been used; however, the steps involved felt very antiquated. This lack of streamlined communication and support made it challenging for me to navigate academic inquiries and accommodations.
It left me and many staff members feeling bogged down in paperwork and documentation when there could have been a streamlined process that would benefit both students and staff. Unfortunately, the negativity of my experience has made returning to Tyndale impossible. I initially started out wanting to finish in 2–3 years, but I am instead finishing my time here in 5.
International students who may consider Tyndale; our courses are accredited, and our environments are welcoming, but if you are trying to attend in your second or third language, it may prove difficult. I would strongly recommend, however, that you seek out other schools who can better support you in finishing your undergrad and master's (and then use Tyndale for accreditation as a later option).
Outstanding institution, needs to work on their staff communication and better support services staff...
Read moreToday was my first time visiting the seminary in person as a registered summer student, and I was truly blown away. The campus is beautiful, inside and out, and everyone I met was so warm, friendly, and helpful.
Initially, I was drawn to Tyndale because of God’s calling to my life as a pastor I need to attend a ATS accredited Seminery nearby. That led me to enroll in three summer courses remotely, without ever setting foot on campus. But today, as I happened to be passing by, I decided to stop in for a quick visit and pick up my student ID. To my surprise, I fell in love with the school instantly.
Even before coming in person, my learning experience through the summer courses had already far exceeded my expectations. The professors have been excellent, and I’ve gained so much insight and inspiration. The tuition I paid feels more than justified, it has truly been worth every penny.
I am deeply grateful for the Lord Jesus’ calling on my life to become a full-time pastor. Following in the footsteps of my church pastors, I took a step of obedience and began this new journey at Tyndale. I now see clearly: Tyndale is a prestigious and Christ-centered university, perfectly suited to help fulfill God’s calling in our lives.
Praise the Lord Jesus! I devote the rest of my life to You, Lord. I came to Tyndale to know You more, to serve You faithfully, and to be transformed by Your...
