This campus has gone really down hill due to York's relentless cutting of staff while the overly managed and administrated university continue to pad their pockets with yearly bonuses and extreme pay increases. They refuse to rehire essential workers like cleaners and maintenance/trades that they lost through retirement, firings, and buyouts. Since I was last here this place has become incredibly run down and dirty. Hey York, take your management and administration bonuses and hire some more cleaners and trades staff. Cut the management and administration bloat and invest that money into the staff who actually keep this place from crumbling on itself, the hard working cleaners and trades staff. And while you are how about you properly market this campus like you used to. So much potential to be a French hub of Southern Ontario yet they are falling flat and destroying a...
Read moreGlendon is a beautiful campus surrounded by trees and a peaceful vibe that makes you forget you're still in the heart of the city. The rose garden behind the library is especially nice, but the entire campus during Fall is absolutely majestic. The only major downfall is that there is no convenience store on campus and no restaurant besides the cafeteria, a tiny Tim Hortons and the coop (Lunik) which often saves the day with tasty vegan food, though at times inconsistent in their supply. I think everyone who recently graduated from the French program would agree that the department is full of out-dated, in-need-of-retiring-soon professors. I did my first two years at the University of Ottawa and the French Department at uOttawa is much better, which is surprising considering that Glendon is supposed to be known for their language learning. If your goal is to become a French teacher, do not go to Glendon College. Their education program is even worse; I was warned not to do my BEd @ Glendon/ York by many students currently in the...
