St. Norbert's Farmers Market is one of the largest places to go to get local food. With the addition of their new online ordering marketplace, it's easier than ever to support local food and goods while staying safe. The hours are limited, but what you'll get during that short access window is plentiful: Winnipeg and area's best sellers make it to this market. Be it fresh bread, eggs, local crops and produce, any kind of beet product, wine, beer, coffee, tea pickles and preserves, honey, baked desserts, meat from beef, pork, chicken, bison, and pickerel... You can get it all here. The only things I can't get from the farmers market is butter and milk products, pretty much everything else you want to eat is reflected.
Most sellers take cards via Square or other arrangements. The few who don't tend to be small baked goods sellers, for whom a quick stop at the ATM will see you leaving happy.
In the current world climate you'll be glad to know they have have sanitizer, a hand wash station with soap and water, and vendors who sell fabric masks. In the winter, their new venue is heated and comfortable all year round, with a fully wind and rainproof shield. Ordering online for pickup can avoid any risk of discomfort, but personally, I find their new cover to be suitable for all temperatures and not at all like a typical pop up tent cover.
Disability note: very much wheelchair accessible, the aisles are wide and there are attendants at every door, all parking is ground level. However, it can be very noisy and overstimulation inside can rapidly occur if you are sensory sensitive. This is something to be mindful of for any visitors with high anxiety in loud social situations. There is not any place to retreat. Expect chaos. I order online if I'm not up for it. Online orders must be placed by 6:00pm Thursday.
Vegan and gluten free goods, from baking treats to healthy eats, are marked and available, as well as more standard dietary options. Vendors are always happy to tell you more about their products, in case you have specific needs. Visiting is a delight. I order for pickup almost every week. It's picking my meals from all the excellent options that's the real challenge! I'm pleased to say that St Norbert Farmers Market makes it possible to eat almost completely local and really know where your food made its footprints on its way...
Read moreI’ve loved this market since the first time I came by, back in 2017.
Since then they’ve only expanded. They’re now open Saturday’s all year long until opening twice a week during the summer months.
This place is a great spot to go for all your local needs. They sell local art/prints, crafts, all things handmade and food items. Specialty baked goods, plain old bakery delights and various assortments of edible goods from local farms (meats, veggies, jams/jellies, eggs, homemade pasta).
Parking can be tricky especially in larger vehicles. We parked in a large lot nearby and walked. There’s lots of pedestrian crossings designed specially for easy access here. Great for pedestrians while potentially annoying for drivers.
It’s free to enter. Most booths take credit or debit, cash always appreciated as well.
It can get pretty cramped in there and when people don’t pay attention it can be hard to differentiate between a line to pay/order or people just milling about.
I love it just the same and always leave with my arms full. I highly recommend it especially in the summer months with the food trucks &...
