The summer palace is really beautiful, and is especially nice to look at in the evening when the sun is setting. You will notice that this is a very busy location, and so if you are intending to set up a tripod alot the coast of the lake, do be careful as the other chinese tourists will have little regard for you equipment and may bump it into the water.
Some of the key attractions here include the summer palace itself as well as the very long bridget that has many archs. alot of tourists will flock to the bridge during the sun set times.
You will also see many young girls dressed in traditional outfits here to take photos in the evening. Some of them may even hire their own photographers to help them with the phototaking. I happened to ask one of them what they intend to use the photos for, and she candidly told me that it would be used for her dating profile. LOL
As the sun begins to set, you will start to notice domestic tourists begin to argue and fight with each other in order to "reserve" their own portions of the river bank for themselves to photograph the sunset. The chinese have a strange habit of standing in each others photographs completely disregarding others, and as a result this usually leads to much dispute. I must say it was very interesting to watch their selfish behaviour between their own people whilst the audio speakers in the background were telling them to be on their best behavior and help improve the country's image to tourists.
