We did the âAlternative lost city trek 3 daysâ in December. It was a fantastic experience! Our guide Kevin is a local, so you get to meet the locals up close. On the first day you even have lunch at his familyâs house in a small village! He is therefore very knowledgeable about the area and knows every single person you meet on the route personally. He speaks fluent English and is an energetic and friendly person. He takes his job as a guide very seriously, so he carries a first aid kit and snacks for his travelers. Franklin was also really nice and able to answer all the questions we had up until the beginning of the trip. The accommodation and food were top notch, and we were never hungry. The only thing to be aware of is that the second night you sleep in hammocks in a local village, which is a truly fantastic experience! Kevin also got us coffee one late afternoon, at some friendsâ place, when we were in need of coffee. It wasnât part of the trip, but an example of how he pays close attention to his travelers. There were only three of us on the tour, so the group was very small and we didn't meet a single other tourist during the three days, not even in the ruins. We had them all to ourselves! The other tourist on the tour had an asthma attack on the last night, so Kevin had to take her to the hospital. He stayed with her all night and booked a taxi back to her hotel. Still, he was ready and fresh the next morning when we were supposed to have a tour of the local village. It was very impressive. Domek Tours has my best recommendations and thank you so much for a...
Read moreToday i finished the 3 day alternative lost city expedition and it was great! The first day we had a great walk through nature and did some great canyon which was Lovely. The guide took us to his home for a great lunch from his mother. In the night we arrived at a Beautiful farm with great conditions to sleep and eat. The next day we went for the alternative lost city and did some great swimmings. In the night we arrived at a village in tayrona were we could spend the night with the indiginous people. We slept in a hammock which was great after a day of hiking. The next day we got a "tour" through the village by a local who explained everything perfectly.
But the best thing of the whole trip was our guide KEVIN. At first he is very good because he is one of the few that speaks english (very wel and he taught himself :)! ). But the energy he brings to the tour is special. A lot of (bad) jokes and can tell great stories around the fire. I consider him as a friend now. THANKS Kevin. X sjoerd from the...
Read moreI had an amazing time on the 3 day trek to the alternative lost city! I wanted a more cultural and immersive experience, and that is exactly what we got. It was a smaller group, which made it much more personal than the more typical commercial tours. We stopped at local farms and homes for food and fruit, so itâs truly like hanging out in the local towns which I really appreciated. Our tour guide, Kevin, was super knowledgeable about the history and culture everywhere we went. He was also super funny and fun making the hard parts more enjoyable! I havenât done the traditional lost city trek, but from what Iâve heard, we were able to enjoy the trek more because it wasnât as long and we had a lot more activities along the way. Thank you to Domek for a...
