Zamek znajduje się na południowy zachód od rynku w Hlučínie (ok 200 m). Został prawdopodobnie zbudowany na miejscu starszej twierdzy na przełomie XIV i XV wieku. Obecnie to trójskrzydłowy jednopiętrowy budynek, który został zakupiony w 1999 roku przez miasto Hlučín, a po odrestaurowaniu przeprowadzonej w kilku etapach w latach 2002-2007 otwarto w nim informacje turystyczna, Muzeum Miejskie, Bibliotekę i Kawiarnię. Muzeum otwarte jest od poniedziałku do piątku oraz w niedziele, w sobotę tylko w lato tak jak w niedzielę.
