I booked the beach horseback riding tour organized by family boogies for 65 USD. The driver who picked me up was not allowed to enter the hotel property with his car. The condition of the horses was ok, not the best, but could have been worse. The guide spoke only a few words English, but communication worked somehow. They didn't give me a helmet. It was a long ride to the beach, where we stopped one time at a place where they tried to sell me stuff (the people who did the boogies stopped there too). Afterwards we continued our way to the beach on the same way that the boogies took, which was a bit annoying, but the horses stayed calm and were used to it. We arrived at the beach and had exact 2 minutes there, the guide tried to take a few photos and a video and that was it, didn't have anything to do with horseback riding on the beach, as we directly got off the horses there and had a break at the beach where they tried to sell me souvenirs and food (same for the people from the boogies tour). I was told we would ride along the beach after the break, but we directly headed away from the beach afterwards. I was very disappointed, even though it was a long time on the horse afterwards, overall 2,5 hours horseback riding. There were parts where we went in gallop (as I am an experienced horseback rider) which was fun and after half of the tour the trails got really beautiful with palm trees and banana plants, it was nice to see the countryside but nevertheless it had nothing to do with what I was told when I booked the tour from a guy at the beach of the hotel, who also lied to me regarding the stable where it should take place. During the tour there were several breaks for the horses to drink which was good but at one place there was barbed wire fence the horses had to go beneath to be able to drink and my horse cut its ear a bit at the fence when his head went up again. The horses were hardly able to go in pace to relax (important to know for people with no experience with horses), I guess they are used to having to go fast all the time, so most of the time the horses go tolt (not trot). After arriving back at the boogies place I had to wait about an hour until the boogies tour ended. The driver who brought us back was very friendly, he spoke English and talked to me while I had to wait, his...
Read moreI was sold a tour of riding buggies on the beach in Macao and swimming in a blue water cave/cenote. About 1/10 of that was delivered. We booked this at our resort from a really good salesman with pictures that did not match what we got. The resort pick-up was very disorganized and we rode in the back of a glorified pickup truck with torn rusty seats and no windshield on the top. After 8 different stops and picking up guests and wrong turns, 90 minutes later, we were at the tour place. The seats of the buggy were so hot it burned the back of my legs and a$$. There were way too many people and buggies so that we all had to sit there in the hot sun with no shade on top of the cars for protection, breathing in exhaust fumes. Many buggies were breaking down and we constantly had to stop and wait for everyone to catch up or to cross roads with traffic stopped. We didn't drive buggies anywhere near the beach, we parked a half mile away and walked. There was nothing provided for comfort or refreshment so bring your cash, bring your own bandana, towel, waterproof bag to keep your stuff out of the mud, water, sunscreen, glasses or goggles, your own tools to fix their broken down shid. The cave was cool but absolutely nothing like the picture show at the resort. The farm was ok, but basically a re-run of selling you all the stuff that DR farms are known for and will be on many similar tours. This was the worst tour I've ever been on and if it weren't for spending the time suffering with my family and friends, I would have called a taxi much earlier and left in the middle of it. We will be laughing about how bad this was for...
Read moreFamily Boogie is the Worst!!! They picked us up over 1 Hour Late from our Resort. When we arrived at the base in Macao, they charged us $2 US for a bottle of water but then, they charged the Latinos $1((they didn't know I understand Spanish) The Buggy is a mess of bright orange metal with rusted out holes in the floors, leaking gas containers and loose hoses all held together by bolts and God's grace. One even broke down on the ride and had to be pushed back to the base. The customer service is Atrocious! The 1st stop took us to a merchant presentation designed purely to get us to buy their wares. No culture, no entertainment. Nothing noteworthy. Next stop was Macao beach for lunch and We Were Fleeced!!! $150US ( plus 25% upcharge for using Zelle or Credit Card)for fried fish, shrimp and rice and 2 drinks! Mid meal, they announced "if you don't hurry up,you will get left behind!" We had to Rush to get back to the rust bucket of a buggy while I looked enviously at other tours that zipped by us in waaay better and safer equipment. My Buggy had brakes soft as sponge cake and the steering alignment is at best a joke.Their buggies are in deplorable condition. That experience alone soured me on Punta Cana.In my experience, Family Boogie is a sub par operation whose employees and vendors are encouraged to prey on tourists. Their equipment is poorly maintained and in deplorable condition, and to top it off, their customer service is Reprehensible! Family...
