We honestly didn't expect it to be this much fun! Kudos to an excellent staff who were organised, friendly, helpful, and very mindful of our safety. The adventure began with a pick-up in an open air truck. Upon arrival, we were given an excellent orientation and strapped into the buggies. If you don't like getting wet and dirty - don't do this! You will be covered in mud from head to foot! The ride has lots of adventurous turns, hills, and of course splashes. At the cavern, we were all given an ice-cold bottle of water before heading underground. Swimming in the pools was glorious. We had a nice, long soak before exploring the cave and then heading back to the base. The gift shop at the end is quite lovely. We were treated to some Dominican coffee, hot chocolate and a lovely botanical drink (forget the name). Strongly recommend that you: (1) Bring lots of cash - photos are USD 40 (and worth it!), a locker is USD 7, bandanas (if you forget) are also USD 7, and the gift shop prices are good enough that you may want to purchase something extra. (2) Wear bathing suits or drip-dry clothes and shoes. No cotton or denim. Your feet will get soaked and there's nowhere to change along the route. I wouldn't bother with a towel - you'll dry in the sun (and then get wet with mud again). The showers at the end are sufficient to rinse off and then drip dry. (3) Bring at least sunglasses to protect your eyes from both sun and mud. And definitely bring a bandana or some kind of lightweight covering for your nose and mouth so you don't inhale mud. Have...
Read moreDONT READ REVIEWS.. Other than mine We went as a group of 4, 2 couples each. Total of 10 buggies in total and we had an absolute blast.. yes the buggies are out dated compared to other companies but they all ran great with no breakdowns or problems.. the only thing I'd say Is the steering was pretty loose. Do NOT bring towels with you or anything for that matter, use the lockers they provide. You will absolutely drive through three foot deep mud puddles and will be completely soaked in the best way possible. It is an extremely rough ride but very much worth it, the quarry or mine they call was absolutely the highlight of the trip. The locals and kids aren't pushy at all and just waving and giving piece signs while we drove by, they were very happy to see us and made the whole experience amazing along with seeing the sights. The only negative which we were nervous about was when you stop at the cave and you are passing all the shops all the vendors approach you to come see their shops, but it's such a short walk to the cave, just ignore them and keep walking, it wasn't that difficult plus our tour guide told them to leave us alone!! Zero complaints and well worth it!! We were there May 14th 2024.... Also definitely try the hot coco and their Mamajuana ...super smooth...
Read moreMy favorite excursion that my wife and I took. She also loved driving the buggies. You can rent buggies or nicer 4x4's like Polaris Raz'r. We went with a buggy and it was a lot of fun and kinda of a scary adventure. You drive through very poor villages, with kids and people on the side of the road or riding animal or motorbikes, so you have to drive safely. You have follow a guide so you won't hit anybody or anything. The stops were an abandoned mine, where you drive around, the next was a farm, which I liked a lot. They teach you about how they process cacao and coffee beans, how they make cigars and mamajuana. I had very few people in my group so I the guides showed me all the plants they grow there, kinda a behind the scenes tour. The last stop is a fresh water swimming hole in a cave. You can jump in and it is really refreshing. It can be very busy since it is a local place. There are shops and a restaurants around the swimming hole. I really enjoyed going through this company. the staff were really cool and nice. They talked and goof around with us whenever we stopped. I think you definitely think it is...
