Lidl — Local services in Nice

Be sure to check if your food is rancid before you buy, as the staff clearly don’t. I’ve seen plenty of mould ridden fruit and veg, out of date packaged food, and stale bread. I bought a bread this morning- tried to make a sandwich at lunch and it was rock hard. It could break concrete if dropped from 1m high.

Much cheaper than some supermarkets in Nice, but rather expensive compared to Lidl’s in other countries, even for items that are the exact same. There is a section specifically called “milk products” but somehow no milk, as if that is not a milk product? The snack section is very simple with all products basically being the same in different packaging. There is a good range of wines. Little to no organic meat...

Watch out! If you are a tourist always bring your receipt from previous shopping at the store. Otherwise the security guard may ask you to open your back and will put you in an uncomfortable situation. He will justify because it is a store policy and "everybody does that" you have to show him if you have items previously bought at Lidl before entering the premises. He accused me of stealing a bag of dried fruits when the bag was already open and a bottle of water that was half empty. He is located at the exit of the shop and you cannot enter unless you look up for him on purpose to demonstrate you have items already bought. The poorest experience I ever had at Lidl and the first time a situation like this...

Discovered this location 1 year ago during confinement. Interesting products, but too much packaging on fruit, veg. Curious to see their bargain bins. Unfortunately, last night the security guard at 17h40 shouting and following people, through the aisles, to get to the the cash tills and get out. That was not cool.
