Originally I was planning to come 8 months earlier, but due to a bike fall 1.5 weeks before the original travel date, the intended travel of September 2024 had to be postponed. The owner Davit understood – without questions asked - that I had to cancel, even though it was so short before. Because I really wanted to come visit and cycle in Georgia, and also because Davit the owner did not make a point of it me cancelling so late, I choose to ask if I could prepay a part of the agreed sum already, to show that I was serious to come visit and cycle in beautiful Georgia. The new travel date was set to be end of May 2025. The plan was to be on the race bicycle for 4 days in a row. A hotel was planned 800m away from the GeoRiders Bike Shop, which was near Lisi Lake and was good and convenient. With a good restaurant just 200m further away across the street, and with 2 supermarkets in between the hotel and restaurant things were optimal. I arrived on a Saturday evening from The Netherlands, road traffic was low, as well as on the Sunday, and even on the Monday, because it was National day in Georgia. Traffic in and around Tbilisi was heavy on the Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We planned to meet 4 times at 09:00 at the Bike shop, and the last 2 days this was during rush hour and getting outside the city at that time takes at least 30 minutes using the support car. When I arrived from the airport, the Right shifter cable had become detached, and David was able to quickly re-adjust the shifting cable on the spot on arrival at the bike shop. I was accompanied the four days by Archil, who was an excellent companion; he really understood what a cyclist needs. We had many interesting discussions on a majority of topics while commuting out Tbilisi, and I also learned a couple of things on the Geopolitical situation in Georgia which I was unaware of. On day 1 Archil joined on the bike for a 100 km easy ride and we enjoyed a good local lunch on the way back. On day 2, 3 and 4 by request the roads proved more challenging and Archil followed me in the support car; he was always pretty far behind me yet comfortably close keeping an eye on things. Because GPXs were provided for day 2, 3 and 4 the navigation was easy. All 4 days we first drove 30-60 minutes in the support car to find nice climbs. I asked for 4 x 100km routes but it turned out to become 100 and 3 x 80, which was good enough. Because it rained on the evening on day 3, day 4 was shortened due to heavy fog up in the mountains, Archil improvised suggesting an alternative route making 40 kms in total. At that time I communicated my location on WhatsApp (due to lack of GPX) which worked out perfectly ; when arriving out of sight at intersections in small towns decisions needed to be made. Because the flight home was on the same evening on day 4, 40km turned out just fine, allowing for packing the bike, a shower, a short lunch and the 1 hour drive back to the airport. Also the legs enjoyed the shorter day, because at one point in life you come to an age where you can’t get away that easily driving up mountains for 4 days straight…. Archil had safety first high on his agenda which was an important agreement. All 4 days went smooth and Archil and David made sure the experience was perfect; whatever it took to give me the best 4 days. 5 stars...
Read moreRented 2 eMTB’s for 3 hours, but came back after less than 45 mins. We wanted to roam around Lisi Lake but the bike didn’t last longer than 20 mins. Had to walk back.
It is absolutely unacceptable to rent eMtb’s out for a 24-day price of 160 lari if they are in this condition. We came back early and the nice lady i the shop returned us the remainder of the hours. Still, 1 star because even if we didn’t come back these bikes should not be rented out for anything more than 10 dollars a day.
Background: We got one green MTB and one Purple MTB. Both of them had bald rear tyres. The suspension did not work at all. Rear brake was not working on the purple bike. One of the bikes had broken spokes and the tyre was flat on arrival. The shop pumped the tyre and half an hour the tyre was completely flat. It has been patched many times it appears.
It honestly looks like these bikes were put together like some kind of frankenstein project. Non-matching pedals from kid bikes, cheap Chinese replacement parts, the forks didn’t even have spacers so that the fork is bent inwards. The rear wheels had tubes without a valve lock so that the tube would shred itself apart.
Honestly it would be better to not use these...
Read moreVia mail I contacted georide about my plan and which materials I wanted to rent (bike, 4 bikepacks and helmet.) And the reponsed fast with correct information.
At my visite (pick up and bring back the bike) Georide has very friendly people who are willing to help and interested in a conversation and share information. They adviced me to skip some parts of my route and visite other spots
I planned to do a trip of 7 days from Tbilisi to Shantili to Kazbegi back to Tbilisi. Unfortunaly, at day 5, the pressure of my frontbrake was low, so I had to turn back. The cause is propably due to use of the brake in the long decents (20km).
I was very happy with the bags. There are waterproof en feels very robust. Due to the fact I had issues with my brake, I recommend customers and georide have good allignment about the expectations of trip and which bike belongs to the trip. In my case the frontbrake where not meeting the requirements of my trip (or occured incidently).
In general I am happy with the service of Georide. Friendly people with...
